like, if you try and look back at their thinking with this one
Lucien Deblois and Mike Bossy both played in the QMJHL
Deblois had 56 goals back to back years in his final two years of juniors
Bossy had 79 goals and 75 goals his last two years of juniors
so, in other words, what the (frank)?

And then look who went 1 pick after Bobby Spaghetti in 2006 -- not a bonafide Superstar but a real good player.

So I guess we can say this has been a curse no matter coaching, scouting management |

depends on how far you wanna go back
1977 they had the 8th and 13th picks and took Lucien Deblois and Ron Duguay
Islanders took Mike Bossy 15th overall
and, the Islanders also got John Tonelli in the 2nd round 33rd overall - jimbo83
This is what I'm thinking about. You'd think in 40 years of drafting just plain luck would have given the Rangers someone offensively gifted. There's your curse.
When these trades happen, I don't want late first round draft picks, I want known prospects and players. |

maybe it's because Bossy looked like somebody from the Rocky Horror Picture Show

I think Murdoch could have been one pf those guys if he had stayed away from the stuff that got him into trouble
I think we also have to take into consideration that it was tough in the old days for really young players to succeed playing in NYC and keep away from the distractions |

I think its tougher now. Its a much more diluted pool now. Back in the day it was players from only certain countries, now its the world. More players but drafting is a bit tougher I would think |

We did have two top ten picks in 1999, the worst damn draft of all time (I am not sure if I am exaggerating). Took Brendl at 4 after the Sedins went 2-3 and the rest of the draft, including our Lundmark pick, sucked.

Closest player to messiers style of play, mainly leadership, since he came into the league or mess retired. I still get a gigantic bonah when I watch him play haha. Boy that was a huge miss by the scouts on that one😥 |

Why on earth would you go down that road??
Drafting 17 year olds is far from an exact science. And yes, you can point out mistakes, but there is not a single franchise that can claim they haven't passed on someone who turned into a star.
You make your choice based on what you have at the time and you take your lumps.
You guys are cooking up a recipe for heartache and anxiety.
Instead, why not discuss how we made every other team look like fools for NOT drafting Hank with any of the multiple picks they threw away on lesser players? |

Yeah, a couple more solid NHLers, but it's amazing how bad that first round was. Didn't look further down in the draft.
