Has Kane been playing in 2018 ? - bennythehat
We'll never know, but you have to wonder if the Sabres would have done better to trade him in November like they did with Vanek |
|
|
|
I have a feeling it will be something like
Kane for 2 seconds and an obscure prospect
Pouliot for a conditional 3rd
Falk for a 5th
Fin. - jcragcrumple
Sounds about right. I'll be happy if they get more for Kane and thrilled if they move Lehner. My over/under for # of trades is 2.5.

We helped secure 5th last place and mitts by not making any moves last year at the deadline.
Good strategy to keep most of this group together and continue to lose and lock in 5th overall or better |

you seriously trying to challenge me into a basketball debate ? Please tell me what team was better than the Cavaliers in the last few years ( in the Eastern Conference) the Raptors are (frank)ing trash they've always been trash
And now he's trying to tell me that the Raptors are good because they beat the Boston Celtics hahaha
I don’t know what you’re watching but the raptors You see In the regular season (never happen in the playoffs!!!!) they choke every (frank)ing year because they equal trash .. - GERBE!!!75PTS

No, he doesn't need to. Defensive ability for a guy with that kind of talent is a luxury, not a necessity. - buffalofan19
Effort is a necessity. You have to give a crap about forchecking and effort. You don't have to be good at defense. If not, and he is the face for the franchise, we are doomed. It's follow the leader. |

I am typing as fast as old fast fingers go.
First?? - Der Kaiser
I agree that the Sabres aren’t as bad off as ppl make it seem on here
Yes, Sbroads is right (kinda)...
we are “close to last”
But so was Colorado last year
And the Leafs the year before
And so on
We have some good players
And we have some good talent coming very soon
Guhle, Mittelstadt & whoever we pick this year (& maybe Nylander) are all high end help
We also have plenty of depth help coming (Bailey, Baptiste, Smith, etc)
YEAH, we’d still have a few more holes that need filling...
BUT
the major one is TopPair defenseman
We can be a playoff contender without one
But not a Cup Contender
Fingers crossed that we get lucky for ONCE and get Dahlin
That would be freaking HUGE |

Falk
gorges
Kane
Pouliot
Lehner?
Girgs?
- jcragcrumple
Makes sense to me
Falk is a maybe imo as well
He’s also probably a guy we could trade & then potentially re-sign in the offseason
Larsson is a maybe as well
And if we trade some kind of package...
then a guy like Bailey, Baptiste, Smith, Fasching or Rodrigues could be included
I doubt O’Reilly, Reinhart or Nylander are moved
Maybe in the offseason, but not at the deadline |

don't think they have enough d-men right now to move both gorges and falk - Michael Pachla
They could bring up Fedun, Tennyson or Redmond again
One or 2 of them has to sit each night down there
They also have Nathan Paetsch (remember him?) and a few other Vet defensemen down there
They wouldn’t want to bring them ALL up...
but even if they did,
we can always return them in time for the playoff run in Rochester |

Seems like Botts isn’t really a big fan of Fedun for whatever reason
He played pretty decent for us last year
And he’s signed next year
So he’s at least decent depth in Rochester who can come up if we have a bunch of injuries
And I’m sure he’s one of their better players down there
Hopefully Fedun can help guide young guys like Borgen & Fitzgerald who will probably join Rochester next year |

point taken, but i'd rather eschew the 6th or 7th rounder for falk to keep the amerks intact |

Deadline moves are a lot easier to make on forums than in real life. I'm just keeping my expectations realistic.
I expect a continued move away from GMTM's core after the season. |

It’ll be interesting to see who of GMTM’s core Botts values & still wants
O’Reilly, Reinhart, Okposo & Ristolainen are all tradable imo

we'll see...if he is moved, it will probably be a late deadline-day deal with a team picking up scraps for depth on the blueline |

Sam and Lehner are both RFA's and very challenging deals. We'll learn a lot about JB with how he handles those.

Yeah, Lehner too, for sure
I’m guessing that if Lehner is traded,
he only gets a 1 or 2 year deal
Tough to imagine that Botts sees him as the long term goalie here
Neither side will want a long term deal for Reinhart
I think a 1 year deal seems likely for Sam
If he “proves it” next year,
then maybe something long term |

A couple of interesting things I learned while in the county jail
1. Skunk has 10 points in his last 9 games, same as Jack
2. A 4 year history degree is considered one of the 5 easiest degrees to obtain, while a dual biology/chemistry degree in considered one of the hardest |
|
|
|
I have no problem with jack on the OT goal. He pushed the play into the middle and forced a wrister a step inside the blue line. That goal was 110% on Lehner.
This is why regardless of save percentage lehner is not a good starting goalie. He does not make saves when it matters.
But those 10 or so minutes a night when he’s on his game he is lights out. |
