Schaller didn’t want to resign here.
He wanted the opportunity to play for Boston. - dadeadhead
He was an RFA
That doesn’t make sense
How did he know of Boston even wanted him?
And of that was the case,
why wasn’t there a trade? |

Like are you serious he basically took the whole team on his back in 2006 and won it ..
Smh - GERBE!!!75PTS
Per 36 minutes a 33 year old Shaq was only 4.5 points shy of a 24 year old Wade...
Plus Wade is the biggest wussy. Needs a wheelchair after he hurts his shoulder, not his ankle, not his knee, his shoulder. |

He was a group 6 UFA after his contract expired following the 15-16 season. |

There really isn't a lot to add up though. 24 mil to replace pouliot, Kane, give Reinhart a raise, and there are already 6 dmen under contract for next year. Then the next year, 12 mil more in space opens up. - jcragcrumple
Just a casual look, but:
Reinhart + Lehner = 9m
2 vets x 2m= 4m
7 more spots = 5m
Moulson buyout = 3.6m
Unless I'm off, cap friendly is only counting 12 contracts next year to get that space, and not counting moulson.

Even in a down year smith still had best possession numbers relative to his blueline and best shot suppression numbers.
You could do a lot worse than him (and we have).
He plays the kind of defensive style we could use, although we could use both styles so i dunno. |

Eichel's raise included, the Sabres have 24 mil to replace UFAs
Kane
Pouliot
Nolan
Josefson
Gorges
Falk
Johnson
Rfa
Reinhart - 894k current
Wilson -600 current
Antipin- 900k current
Nelson-650 current
Lehner-4 mil current
Reinhart will get 3 mil more, antipin and nelson get maybe a small raise, Lehner probably isn't getting a raise. So call it 19 million to replace those UFAs. If they go the short term deal route with that money, next year they'll have 31mil to play with, with Reinhart, Eichel, ROR, Okposo, risto, McCabe , scandellla and Lehner under contract |

apologies for the snappy response, some of the vets here always respond with references and proverbs that nobody younger than 40 would know so it gets irritating. |

When I plug it all in, and buyout Moulson, I get about 6.5m of space. I imagine they'll sign a vet or two to cut into that.

So what does it tell you about the validity of those numbers that NyR is clearly not happy with his play & would love to get rid of him? |

It tells me that I can think for myself and that upper management of sports teams are just as prone to careless mistakes as those not involved?
See Chiarelli, Peter since....always
Edit: they were right to add Smith, the extensions was kind of a push |
