I'm not optimistic that Botts will get very much in return at the deadline. And I don't know why anyone here would be either. Kane sucks, Lehner, sucks, Poo-liot? Gorges? |

They would probably love to move toews though.
Pat Kane is still a top 5 nhl player
What a tough spot to be in:
Win a bunch of stanley cups
Pay the stars
Be in cap trouble
That's what's great about being a sabres fan, we don't have to worry about any of that bs. - Boss34
Hahahaha!
U win this round sir |

This is the cycle we’re going to see though with all teams in any league that plays under a hard salary cap.
Teams tanking to build, teams building, and hopefully succeeding, then going through hell while they work off the cost of acquiring and paying the champions. - Der Kaiser
Maybe not Tampa
Yzerman has been a damn wizard with getting guys to take less than they’d get on the open market
The Kicherov deal is one of the best ever in the Cap era

But can they move Toews at this point?
Probably only if they eat some of the contract, in which case, what’s the point?
I don’t think Seabrook or Keith are movable either
Kane is the only one they could move
Maybe Saad?
But 6mil is a lot unless they’re basically just giving him away to a Cap floor team
Maybe Crawford?
But 6mil is a lot for a goalie who is already 33
(I had no idea he was that old)
They’re gonna have to tear it down at some point
Idk what they’re gonna do to get to “contender” status again?
Maybe they just stay as is & hope guys like Debrincat can develop quick & give Toews & Kane some help |

I'm starting to question what he'll get back also. Not his fault, but Kane has just been ice cold and has no playoff pedigree. Lehner? A 3rd round pick? |

Might just be worth shutting him down for the season
Get him 100% for offseason training
With the season essentially over,
absolutely no need for him to come back |

That could be worse than ligament damage. Atleast for a time table on a return date. |

Agreed. Sometimes guys come back too early and end up with other injuries. |

Agreed that there's no reason to rush him back.
And the 2017-18 sh!t show rolls on...
Bring on the trade deadline. |

Kane should still get a good return
Not the 4 pieces he was asking for,
but i think a prospect & a 1st is still reasonable
All our other UFAs are just worth mid-late round picks
So i wouldn’t expect much
Maybe a 2nd for Lehner if we move him |

Right?
Can we just fast forward to the deadline?
And then to the playoffs?
There’s always next year though!

Good point
Why risk it lingering into the offseason?
No thanks
Just get healthy Jack
We’re gonna need him next year at 100% |

I'm just glad this Injury isn't going to keep him out thru the beginning of next year.
That would be double buffaluck
Should be fun game tonight with the other 2,000 people |

I hope opposing GMs don't read the hockeybuzz Sabres thread for insight into Sabre players. Or else we aren't getting anything more than a low 2nd for Kane and/or Sam, and 5ths for everyone else. |

Other gms would hear 2 (1st) round picks have been turned town by jbotts and that we are going to extend Kane any moment. Then other gms would offer more.
Other gms would also be convinced that kanes recent horrible play would actually somehow improve his value, because everyone would want him. Kanes an all star snub and the's better and more important to this team than eichel.
The other gms would tell the scouts to look at kanes 9 year career and ignore their in person opinion.
Gms would be "stupid" to judge his current on ice play and rely on his (1) 30 goal season to set the market.
They can also have ror, because he can't score 5 x5
