Man it's strange seeing the Hawks so far out. - Tojo.
It really is. Just goes to show how even the salary cap has made the league because they are not a bad team at all...few pieces and they're right back in the fold next year. Losing Crawford for so long has stung them big time....and my fantasy team |

I hope they use most of that space on McD...
How many years does the team that gets the big TDL rental(s) end up winning the cup?
EDIT: Just realized that his annual cap hit is only 4.7 mill....prorated for this time of year it will only be around 1.5ish mill cap hit...thats just a scratch of that 6 mill in space : / - MattStrat
Thing is McD would kinda almost be a role player with Tampa so it isn't like it would be a major shakeup for them. |

Thing is McD isn't a rental so he'd be a smart add for anyone with that cap hit. |

I think they could use one more top 9 forward more, but some of their vet D are fading so it makes sense to add there as well. |

Well they need Palat healthy and if they could snag a middle 6 rental sure but they do have a ton of young guys that could be the kind of guy that comes out of nowhere come playoff time. |

Keep forgetting he's not a UFA...at a 4.7 cap hit, signed another year, only 27 years old and being their captain....why would they trade him? Now that I've really thought about it, I dont think he gets traded. |

Not to nitpick, but there's a difference between being available and being actively shopped. Aside from Green, is there anyone you've heard is being actively shopped? |

They seem to be choosing to start a rebuild while they're still a play-off competitive team. They'd get quite a bit for McD and Zuccarello who might not get their next contracts there. Add in Nash and Grabner plus they do have some good young talent and prospects and it could be a strong, quick rebuild. |

If they're after a guy like Brassard, that's a significant upgrade and worth the cost.
Otherwise, the only guys out there should be somewhat affordable - Pageau/Letestu/Plekanec. Those guys shouldn't require any kind of roster player going back the other way, and they're all somewhat interchangeable with Sheahan as far as who is centering what line.
It's all wingers as far as the guys who will get big returns. - hardnosed
I think Sheahan is better than Pageau and Letestu. Those would fall under the 4C category, although I think ottowa has put Pageau’s price tag firmly at 3C. I like Pageau a lot, but I wouldn’t pay Ott’s price given we have a better player.
Plekanec is a guy I think would be a clear upgrade over Sheahan, and his price may indeed be not that much, but I’m pretty sure even if the Habs retained 50%, we’d have to send salary to make it work. That’s what I meant by having to send out a roster player. I think pretty much everyone that is a clear upgrade over Sheahan has a prohibitive caphit without sending out salary, even if they don’t cost that much in terms of assets |

I didn't.
He only averaged about 2 shots on goal last season both in the regular season and the playoffs.
He shot 20% in the regular season and 25% in the playoffs. Neither of those were sustainable. Now he is shooting at 13% (probably sustainable) and just averaging over 2 shots on goal per game. So on a 82 game pace with say roughly 180 shots at 13% you are looking at 23ish goals. |
