Let me guess, you've got your man Disco Dan Bylsma pencilled in as the appropriate Q replacement? - RickJ
No idea, but it is clear his message is stale. His tactics are predictable and soooo....playeeedddd....outtt....
To each his own, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. Watching this team is like watching old re runs, and whats worse is most of commentary is like ground hog day.
Nobody on this board even knew who Sullivan was or had him pegged to be the penguins new coach....2 cups later....
Not sure if everyone in Chicago knows, but Ditka is not the Coach of the Bears anymore.
Time to turn the page before the remaining joy is zapped out of Toews and others... |

You're right it's far more efficient.
So that's the answer fire the coach and we have a SC winning team?
So having a starting AHL goalie in net and only 1 top 4 defenseman on the roster has nothing to do with the teams struggles.
Whatever - BetweenTheDots
This is a newsflash, coaches do not win stanley cups, players do. No Conn Smythe trophy has ever been awarded to a coach....please google it.
1 top 4 defensemen, that is 1 more than Vegas and the Penguins had on their cup winning team last year.
But by all means....hang on to your guy... |

So the Penguins really struggled, hired Sullivan and went on to win 2 Stanley Cups, oh wait he didn't win his team won but he doesn't get credit for it? Since you know its the players that win games, so that's what you are basically saying
And I'm fine with a coaching change, but to say a coach has nothing to do with the teams success is literally one of the dumbest things I've ever heard |

This really is not too hard to understand if you think a little outside the box.
Not long ago, Penguins fans lamented their team, like Hawk fans are doing now. Many questioned Crosby and noted the stale play of their team as a whole.
A different voice is brought in, which is a noticeable common denominator with the teams rejuvenation.
But go ahead and curse bowman and hockey gods, the salary cap and anything else you can think of that keeps Q from having 15 Olympic players on the roster. Even better is you hold on to the coach, in hopes that the stars line up and that occurs again. |

Shea Theodore and Nate Schmidt, unprotected players from prior teams. Solid players, no disrespect to them. Theoodore, before this year. Considered a bust...
Schmidt solid, but if he were #2 in Washington, he would not have been left unprotected...lets be honest... |

In my earlier post I said I was fine with a coaching change
You obviously are biased against Q, great whatever

At the end of the day, regardless of my feelings, something has to change. You are not going to change 25 players and you can not change even the bulk of your core...before doing that...change the coach...get a new voice... |

Why would Duclair be scratched? Young, fast, skilled, has something to prove, and has played fairly well. Now I see, nevermind. Q has an agenda. |

My crystal ball says Q will hang them up after this season, and if Corey stays healthy next year we will still be a fringe play off team. |

Outside of my bad sarcasm, the toughest thing about hockey is the parity. The thin margin of being a really good team or a good team on the outside looking in.
We are not used to this team losing the close games, or this many of them. What concerns me more is how they do it.
Did we underestimate how important Hossa was to this team? Am I ready to give up on Keith and Toews? No, but clearly they are having down years.
At the end of the day, if Crow is healthy, are you still in the conversation, no doubt. |

You know, there are players who rebound after a couple of off years. Claude Giroux, drafted the same year as #19, fell off the face of the earth for 2 seasons and look at what he's doing now. How about Eric Staal? Brian Trottier bounced back years after his Islander glory days to contribute to 2 Cups with the Penguins. Some 'experts' considered Sidney Crosby finished because of his lengthy concussion problems. He's only been the best player in the game for the past 3 years. Comebacks do happen. - RickJ
I hope this happens. I would love to see Toews get back to some semblance of what he was.
But earlier today I was thinking about some comments posted within the last couple of days and attributed to Toews about how he does not question himself because that puts doubt in his mind. If that really is his position, then he is either very misguided or one really, really stupid person. I think the ability to look at your situation, evaluate it and make adjustments to improve yourself or your position are the hallmarks of winners in any endeavor, whether it is being a good spouse, parent, employer or employee, athlete, etc. not being willing to question and learn us a surefire way to becoming a loser.

I remember the Pens coach at the time - Dan Bylsma. The same guy that you wrote a glowing short story about because he came down to Florida and took a turn behind the bench changing lines for you and 15 of your buddies playing in the absolute no talent league. That's also the same guy who Crosby and Mario Lemieux ran out of Pittsburgh because those 2 know something about the game and realized he was a complete hockey moron. Which Buffalo soon found out too. |

I wouldn't believe too much of what you read in the Tribune or wherever. The guy knows he is struggling, as is the team and its is affecting him more than he would admit to some reporter who has never played the game. When you have won everything there is to win in hockey, losing and not playing well personally is a new world. |

Not sure the Hawks are going to hold on to win tonight....20 tough minutes left. But I hope they do. Either way, the effort tonight has been much better than what we’ve seen lately and much more entertaining to watch.
Ooops....2-2! |

Wow, thanks Rick for remembering that story.
Not sure what case you are trying to make. I do not believe I said the Hawks should name Bylsma as coach. Please quote me if you can find it. You may have to go to the scrap book of comments I made over the years in the binder next to your One Goal archives.
Moron Bylsma won a Stanley cup and made playoffs each year, lost a conference finals. Then moved on to coach the worst franchise in NHL last decade. That Moron coached like 6 years in Pittsburg...I guess it took Crosby and Mario a while to figure it out?
Wouldn't it be funny if Q gets canned and ends up in Buffalo?
