If Panarin does not sign off on a new deal in the next year, do you think he might want to be re-united with Kane as a UFA?
A team friendly long term deal could make that possible if he is willing. - 67hawks
Pray that he will. Kane and Panarin was the most deadly combo in the entire league. We would not be in this position if we had Panarin. The most exciting hockey ever. |

Thanks Enzo for setting me straight. I forgot. I guess I lost my head there.
You know, watching S Johns the other night, couldn't help but think someone in this org (Q?) put the kabash on Johns before he even got a sniff here. Or maybe someone figured he'd get the same treatment Q's given others (like, let's say Kempny, who while I think might not be a top 2, certainly has the tools to be top 4). And they better sell to get something for him while they can.
So Blowman goes out and gets Daley and Q proceeds to give him the same treatment. Blowman realizes his mistake and ships him off to Mike Sullivan while the Pens unload a washed-up-perfect-for-Q vet in Scuderi (or his corpse). Daley meanwhile gets his name on the CUP and we're still stuck in neutral.
Honestly, both Q and Blowman need to go.
Blowman gets guys that have some talent and instead, Q sits 'em. Then makes a mockery with players like John Scott, Bollig, Mashinter. The list could go on.
I really believe it's time for some big changes. - savvyone-1
Johns looked outstanding against the Hawks. He would be playing 1RD next to Keith this year had he not been gifted away to a division rival. He scored, defended well, and was bullying Hawks players all over the ice. He is a punishing player, 7 goals on the year, good skater, and only entering his prime.
Agreed 100%. I don't forsee this nosedive to the NHL's basement to stop soon, and I'd hope they clean house in the front office and behind the bench. |

We stopped by the rink to watch the morning skate in Scottsdale earlier - thought I'd share a couple things that stood out:
- StanBo was on the phone the entire time, wandering around outside the building. Trade in the works?
- Corey stopped for a few to talk to some of us, take pics, etc. The poor guy was completely out of it - seemed to have trouble even thinking/talking, eyes were all over the place, etc. No way in hell they should bring him back anytime soon, regardless of whatever slim playoff hopes exist.

I just want to thank bouma for making for an exciting first period against the wild both teams were hitting there was some bad blood he didn't turtle like wingles basically did to Benn. I didn't like that he kept turning down prosser who isn't tough at all it would of been nice to see a tm step up for him considering he already got fed by foligno.
Other notes I think dahlstrom looked bad might be because of nerves but out of position a lot of bad passes. |

Leddy is a beautiful skater, he is also remains a pretty poor defender. Sorry, 9G, 25 A - 34pts and still a -30. I know that +/- is not a great indicator of play all the time, but in Leddy's case it confirms the eye test......he is not very good in his own end. - TheTrob
Something i just don't understand about a kid like Leddy. Someone please enlighten me. In football, players change position a bit. Not unusual for a college tight end to be moved at the pro level, to perhaps linebacker or wideout. A running back might get moved to play DB. Etc, etc……. Why does this seemingly not happen in hockey? Maybe a guy with Leddy's skills would make a better winger for example.
Anyone with any insight??
Thanks |

I agree getting rid of johns was dumb a big physical dman to replace seabs. Should of signed seabs for less or let him walk instead of that disaster deal.
Why complain about the enforcers we had in the past? We have no toughness on our 4 lines and can roll 4 lines like some of you preach we have to and we still can't score. Scott served a purpose creating room for other guys kane and toews loved having him in the lineup he was slow but parked in front of the net and laid the body.
Bollig started out strong then stopped playing his role king of the hitting the boards not the player check. Didn't mind seeing him go.
Mashinter I thought would be the upgrade over bollig as a fighter and player. He was neither you could tell he didn't like the fighter role wasn't hard enough to play against.
Eager who played when a lot of other teams had legit heavies was a spot picker but good physical 4th liner.
Matt Walker ideal 6 dman who could hang with anyone loved it when he ko'd jovo cop. |

I didn't think Wingels backed down from Benn. I think Benn had 2nd thoughts about actually wanting to fight. They grabbed each other and stared and talked and that was it. That was one heck of a clean hit by Wingels on Radulov |

I agree beautiful hit Benn defiantly wanted to fight bit you can tell wingles said no way in hell. The guy who Benn really wanted was Hartman for his shady play and his crosby esque head snap. I detest Hartman more then lemuix and roussel combined can't stand him. |

Hinostroza is scoring at same pace as Debrincat and Toews. Only a fool would want to trade him. Oh yeah, I almost forgot who does the trading |

He's not. He has improved but doesn't have much speed (guessing he might barely beat Seabrook in a race).
If you want to watch a classic power skater with proper stride, dial up your TV or browser to re-watch Nick Leddy. Might be one of the finest examples in the NHL, accelerates within about a stride and a half.
We had a guy like that once, can't quite remember him . . . - savvyone-1
So, a team with a porous team defense, the purdy skater is the answer?
If so, Why isn't he the answer on the island? Oh wait, bad G and bad team D, same as CHGO, but he is still the answer to the question nobody is asking.
Give it a rest. If you're gonna fawn over a dman, at least fawn over a guy that can play on the defensive side of the puck. Ya know, that's why they're called defensemen? |

He's been playing with a rookie Center in Dubois (who I would love to acquire) and a rotation of RWs, but I'm sure that $$$$ will be the biggest factor in his UFA decision. I'm not sure CBJ will have $8 mil to give him, and the Hawks likely won't either. He's been a treat to watch in CBJ just like in CHI. Top offensive talent in the world with the puck on his stick, just playing with less effective finishers in CBJ compared to Kaner. - EnzoD
If we could just get rid of some of the bad contracts we could get this done. Seabrook,s contract would nearly do it. Stan can redeem himself if he can get him back. We went from the very top of the league to close to the bottom in one year. |

Have not heard anything specifically on this, and judging by the Glass/Forsberg dance and other headscratchers, I suspect there is no universally agreed upon plan plan at present.
Not gonna buy, unless someone decides to give away a problem child with talent (a la Duclair). Probably not gonna sell too much beyond some fringe guys for draft picks.
Bowman says the team next year will look much the same as this year. The marketing guys are bricking it at the thought.
I suspect the dollars and rapidly plummeting brand equity alone will drive the plan, and the plan will likely encompass more than the on-ice personnel.
But you nailed it. They need a plan, a vision, to turn the arc of the franchise around, and they need a good one, and they need to stick to it. - John Jaeckel
Look who the cat ( and I don't mean dinky!) dragged in!!!
How's the new gig?

I expect Hinostroza to be a core part of the youth movement next season along with DeBrincat, Schmaltz, Duclair, Hartman, Hayden and hopefully Sikura. I’m not saying they’ll all be stars, but they could all be effective in certain roles on the team. |

Where's all that early season chirping you had for posters who said the Hawks were not a very good team? That's 2-0 AZ in the battle for worst team in the West. Stay snarky bud. |

Hahaha.
Dude. The F-Bomb stuff was embarrassing. Legit cringe worthy. Like, you're a grown man...couldn't you just celebrate and keep it together? Gotta try and be the "cool" guy at the celebration event where there's kids and family in the crowd and watching on TV--such a dork.
Just my opinion. - Hank3Henshaw
It was embarrassing and totally uncalled for. I personally don’t care what Crawford or any other Hawk — or any of the Postgres on this board, for that matter — say in the company if their friends in a private setting. He can use whatever language with his friends when he is with them. But in a very public setting in front of thousands of young children, I believe he had a responsibility to respond in a more appropriate manner. In other words, I would suggest next time he keep his f***king mouth shu!
