you telling me ROR is being forced to play and not loving every second of it because he doesn't think he's the best player on the ice?
- BeadyEyedDouche

If LaFontaine was still here Murray wouldn't have had the final call on the trades he made, Pegula doesn't have a " hockey mind" telling him what's bad or good.

He is the best player on the ice without Eichel. I think even the most ardent ROR haters would admit he's far and away the second best player on the team

Allow me to translate:

"Jesus Christ I'm playing 23 minutes a night because I'm one of 4 players who can score, play defense and win faceoffs. YOU play with Scott Wilson for 5 games and try to score 5-on-5. Great, Jack's hurt so I get to play 30 minutes a night"

- jcragcrumple

I'd say he is 1 of 1 players on the team who can do all three of those things well.

Sabres send: Kane, Lehner, ROR, McCabe and a 2nd

Philly sends: Giroux, Ghost, 1st

book-it

- BeadyEyedDouche

This would pretty much dismantle the Murray project....

Here's a list of dubious or spurious claims made about ROR on this board - which may have also originated on this board - that are now accepted as gospel truth

He's an "old 26"
His back is breaking down
He's already lost a step
He's a bad teammate
He and Eichel don't get along
Prima Donna
Questionable defensively
His points will decrease
His goals will decrease
PP points don't matter as much as 5-on-5
His face off percentage is replaceable
Can replace 2C from within
And the distasteful ones about his living arrangements I'm not gonna get into

I'm sure there more

Some of us get it.

He's always been a second or third best player on awful teams. He does not make a team go over the hump. He's a poor man's Bergeron. Fitting for this team, unfortunately.

We would also still have Ryan Miller and Steve Ott and neither of Eichel or McDavid or even Reinhart.

Me too. Zadina is a skating dream and a scoring stud for Halifax and he plays both ends of the rink. We need some of this for the future of the Sabres. Many of said they are not worried about Eichel's lack of defensive skill and limited effort on the backcheck but trust me from experience, that shet is contagious. Name a captain of any successful NHL team currently that does not play a good 2 way game?

You really are just all doom and gloom all the time, aren't you. Yikes.

Read the GR article. If Buffalo offers him a deal, he's more than likely signing it. He's ready to join this organization.

Crosby is the best player in the world still, McDavid carried them into the second round last year, the GM dismantled a winner

Amen 3x on this. Crosby is still hands down the best player in the world. The young Pettawan in Edmonton has a lot to prove until you can Knight him with such prestige.

you are on point today

I was just coming in here to say he basically carried the team on his back to the playoffs last year and even almost made the conference finals, within a game of them, to be exact.

The point stands. It's possible to be a good player on a bad team. Is it Doan's fault the coyotes mostly sucked with him? The Panthers wasted Olli Jokinen's prime, kovalchuk couldn't make the thrashers good
