Kreider possibly in non-contact jersey at practice tomorrow:
https://nypost.com/2018/0...m_campaign=site%20buttons

Kreider, who had 11 goals and 11 assists in 37 games, will rejoin a team in a unique circumstance, just a couple of points out of a wild-card berth but having been informed of management’s intent to focus on the future even if at the expense of a playoff spot.

‘I haven’t gone through this with them, so it’s very hard for me to speak to it,” said Kreider, whose absence has only amplified his importance to the team. “But I can say that a lot of us have been together for a long time, we’ve been fortunate that way, and it would be a mistake to underestimate this group.

“I’m sure they’re disappointed and disenchanted with some stuff, but there is a ton of heart in that room, and I cannot wait to get back and be a part of it. I’m healthy and I’m ready to go.”

Crazy reading that and he wasn't telling the team the crap he was going through like coughing up blood...when is that normal hockey wear and tear?

Does that mean not trading a guy like Sergachev? I think it helps it seems Boston and Tampa are the 2 teams most interested.

If I had to guess, Foote is gonna be the defenseman they move. If they really want Nash and McDonagh I could see the return being something like Foote, one of Raddysh/Cirelli/Stephens, a 1st round pick and maybe a 2nd or something like that?

Foote/Raddysh/1st/another piece would be a hell of a return

I wouldn't mind Foote but Sergachev would be my pick between the two.

I certainly have no idea what the return could be, but it seems unlikely to me they're going to trade pieces off their roster. Especially, given Yzerman's comments, young and cheap ones if they plan on extending McDonagh past the end of his current deal.

I would say maybe they would move Johnson, but at 27 I don't think the Rangers covet him too much.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Who knows, but this should be a fun deadline for Ranger fans.

Not that I would necessarily disagree with your taste, but Foote is having a hell of a year in the WHL. Already more than doubled his goal total from last year and is only 5pts off his point total, in 25 fewer games.

But yeah, I'd probably prefer Sergachev too.

Johnson could be part of it to make the money work, but I doubt he is the main piece

Well the thing is is you are getting a number 1 defenseman... I mean do you expect the Rangers to take scraps for that?

Still cracks me up when I was watching the NHL Network last week and they were discussing McDonagh for Evander Kane and a 5th

No, of course not. But you'd be hard-pressed to call guys like Foote and Raddysh scraps.

I just think if we are giving a team a number 1 established defenseman, got to get back one of their best young guys. Seems only fair. I mean yeah Mac is only signed for another year, but true #1 defenseman rarely go on the market at McDonaghs age

I'm not arguing that he's not worth it, but I just don't see Yzerman breaking up the current roster that he ices every night. Contenders almost never trade roster players at the deadline, especially valuable young ones that are cost-controlled.
