As far as McDonagh goes, the Rangers are not forced into having to deal him by the deadline. They can do so prior to or during the Draft. Gorton should wait until all possible serious contenders who McDonagh would accept a trade to, come with their offers. We know about Tampa and Boston wanting him badly. But others like Toronto may end up making a serious offer as well.
At last night's Tampa @ Toronto game, 20 of the 29 other teams had scouts or reps in person, including the Rangers, and at least one GM (Chiarelli of Edm), and 2 reps of Winnipeg. The only 9 other teams not represented there were Bos, Det, Buf, NYI, NJD, Chi, Nash, SJ, & Vancouver. On the Rangers end, they do not have anymore games against Toronto this season. So who knows what reps were there looking at who?
