Nylander needs to take advantage - Pegullaville
the guy has scored 2 goals, TWO, in 28 games... Time to ship him out of here, while he still has some value.

What has caused kane's perceived drop in value? - Boss34
More teams are becoming sellers. More/cheaper options are becoming available. Is my thought. Less about scoring slump imo |

I read that Nylander is the #25 ranked prospect outside the nhl.

I think a lot of people were concerned because of the scoring slump he fell into. But he has a massive sample size for the kind of player he is. He's no Ville Leino. You're not hoping for the best and paying him expecting him to be more. He's good ol' wienerhead 50-55 point Evander Kane. Always has been, probably always will be. They know exactly what they're getting. |

Lot of guesswork here. If you don't know the market, you or I or anyone here has no (frank)ing clue what will happen. No idea what GM's covet, how he fits onto their teams, and how many GMs are in a bidding war for his services.
Botts is obviously a pretty fart smella. I believe he's still settling the market. I think if it were flat, he'd have sold him weeks ago for an underwhelming price. - TheSabresTaco
I don't disagree in anyway. It's just a proven fact during the trade deadline. First big dog to the trough gets the most food. Rest fight for the scraps |

If there was any truth to the rumour that the Blues had an offer on the table a few weeks back meeting our crazy demands and we did not pop because we held out for a better offer, this is what can happen. 4-5 teams tanked in a six week period and became sellers thus flooding the market with viable options other than Kane |

Extremely poor asset management. Why bother? Guy is on an entry level deal, still not 20 (couple weeks) and started his pro career in the AHL at 18. He had a massive setback to start the season which may have really (frank)ed with his game. Now, I'm not making excuses for the kid. Taylor, Sexton and Botts really need to focus on what they can do to help him improve and develop. He costs next to nothing and has little value right now. You invested a lot in the kid, there's no reason to throw the towel in yet. |

I saw that too, it's a joke... He wouldn't even make my top 200. the alleged snipshow has 9 points...if that is the 25th rated prospect outside of the NHL, the NHL is in big trouble. |

Sam Reinhart was rated the #1 or #2 prospect in all of hockey at one point before he joined full time. So theres that.. |

Disagree. Agree with the rest tho. Even with all that said I would move him in the right deal. |

There were roomerz weeks if not months ago that Nash, Maroon and Hoffman were going to be available, amongst LWs. I trust that Botts did not see an overwhelming 'need to trade him right this second' deal that blew his pants off. If it wasn't the case, which I would trust it wasn't, there may be a bidding war and the bids may be tight. Also, there may be picks being negotiated. You hear all the time how complicated those can be, and how "we've been working on a deal like this for months". Also.....
No one of significance has been traded yet. |

Actual value or potential value? His potential is much higher, of course.
You move anyone in the right deal. If I was guaranteed the 1st overall pick for the next 10 years and a young top line center, I'd trade Jack.
But obviously I know what you mean. |

It's Craig Button's list. Nothing remotely official to it. He gave a good interview on WGR. He likes Nylander a lot and had him like #4 last year, so he dropped him a ton. He's bothered a lot by his play in Rochester, but also points out that he had no business there last year and is in a bad spot right now.

If you look at the standings
4 teams in our conference other than the sabres are pretty much out. Rangers still 2 points back.
4 is the western conference that are out.
So we are competing with 8 or 9 other teams for trading players away.
Pouilot may actually have some value.
Cheap , size and speed.
The return may surprise people

I like the player, but JB isn't going make any big $ long term deals this summer. It just doesn't make sense right now. - Lunaion
Carlson will be looking for 7, might to be to much for Botts as of now. |

Well yea. Thats why teams would trade for him. He def has value and I would bet that its actually semi high. Its not like he was an 8th overall from 5 years ago |

So was mcdavid. Guys definitely can't be judged %100 by their rating. But it's a guide .
I could see a team still wanting Nylander.
Trade for one of their underachivers.

I believe Carlson is a guy you move poop around to fit him in. High quality top line guy. You buy out Bogo and you get 4 million on the cap this and next year. It's pricey, but that's a guy you do it for. And I was never on the Shats train. |

Agree on Pouliot. Hes on the first line tonight so perhaps a little showcasing is going on.

I like Carlson and if Botterill wants to rebuild the defense like he says he does, then you go for him but he will cost a good amount. |
