I think Kane has more value, his play is geared towards playoff hockey, younger and faster
- washedup20

I think Kane does also but teams want Nash, I wanted him on the Sabres for years now.

Nash is lower risk and lower reward.

I think there's a GM out there willing to take a big chance on Kane heating up at the right time.

Kane is gonna bring pounding hits to the playoffs

Just watched a bit more tape on oloffsson, kid can shoot the puck.
Something ive started to notice is a lot of off handed wingers coming out of europe these days. I wonder why that is? Coaches encouraging them to play on the off wing over there for some reason?
Zadina and svech are both left handed rws as well. I just find it interesting.

Gives them an advantage when peeling in and shooting from the slot.

Vanek and OV do it too. Some snipers like it because while it's haarder to accept a pass, it allows them to open up both sides of the net from the LW side, because their stick and the puck is closer to the middle of the net

Certainly. Theres advantages and disadvantages to both. I am just starting to notice it a bit more lately. With the clutching and grabbing going away and hockey becoming more and more speed related it kind of makes sense.

They shouldn't be....both are no shows this year.

Nylander is 19, not 23 or 24.

What was everybody here doing at 19? (Those that were serving in the armed forces are exempt).

Whoever came up with the unwritten rule that wingers shouldn't play the off wing did the game a disservice. Many wingers are more effective and comfortable playing the off wing, it also opens them up for the one-timer. Center is position where there is a drastic change in how the game is played. Rw/Lw all the same thing.

What? If anything, it is more prevalent now then it was a few years ago.

Teams are deciding to go with faster skaters to try and avoid the obstruction that has come back into the game.

Compared to the 90's and prior, it definitely has. Compared to 05-06 you are right, but still way less than before. Kids coming into the league now were learning to play right about the time the nhl changed the rules on it.

Same.

He was the 8th pick, not the 3rd. Not the 4th. And he was thrown into the AHL, on certain levels a much tougher league to survive in, at 18!

Here's a kid, not only having to adjust to smaller rinks, but bigger, nastier players, some fighting for their hockey careers, and also having to cook his own meals, pay bills, you know, be AN ADULT when the rest of his friends are sleeping until noon, still living at home, etc etc etc.

I think a little slack needs to be given.

Now, that being said, if it's a lack of effort on his part, then, by all means, hang him by the neck until dead.

Provorov has already shown the signs in his second year of a cornerstone #1 defenseman. You don’t trade players like that away. They also have Couturier blossoming into the 1C they planned on now that the offense has come. Not to mention that Nolan Patrick may eventually take over the first line center position. I doubt any of the names being mentioned here are part of any possible deal between the two teams.

Pasternak and his brother didn’t seem to have a problem with it.... both averaged near a ppg or better at 19 in the AHL

You're right. Trade Nylander because David goddamn Pastrnak adjusted well.
