Inside the brilliant mind of Stan Bowman - why would I pick up DiDomenico on waivers 2 days ago when I can wait and trade a body to get him.
- RickJ

I get the vibe that nobody in the Hawks organization has any idea on what the he!! to do with this team. Make a move. Any move.

Huh? Soshnikov has basically done nothing in the league and has been given plenty of opportunity. Maybe he's the next Richard Panik and goes to St. Louis and produces, but then.... you'd have to give credit to Stan for making the Panik trade and in the end of that cycle, turning Jeremy Morin into Anthony Duclair.
- Hawks_49

Soshnikov has had a bunch of injuries but when healthy is good enough to be on this current Hawks roster. Blues gave up a 4th for him which is cheap; Bowman won't ever select a player as good as him with any 4th rounder he has in his GM lifetime.

Same logic for throwing 2 picks away for (Timonen) a 40 yr old guy that had not seen the ice in almost a year with blood clots/health problems.

Tip of the iceberg.
Guy is writing his own epitaph as we speak.
(frank)ing clown-car ridiculous.

DiDomenico is only back in the NHL because he played for Guy Boucher in Switzerland and he brought him back to Ottawa as a reward and also because Eugene Melnyk deemed the salary cheap enough for his budget.

Q will take one look at him and hand out the coupon for free hot dogs in the press box.

I'm sure Stan, Q and company will have this mess sorted out by next October.

That's pretty cool. And leaves me wondering that young Mr Kane is quite a bit more of a leader than we all realize...
- 35Tony0

If he wasn't early in his career, he definitely has grown into one. He is the one who seems to take the younger players under his wing to work with them on developing their skills. He spent a lot of time training with Hartman, Hinostroza, and Schmaltz this summer. Got them spots in his skills camp, which is usually only for elite players (Matthews, Parise, etc.).

He has done far more of the press after practices and games than any of his peers, with exception of possibly Toews. It's notable he is front and center after most losses.

Off the ice, it's rumored he makes quite a few visits to the Lurie Children's Hospital here in Chicago. Doesn't take the BHTV with him, but occasionally, a parent will post some pics.

No, after looking at his depth chart Q is heading towards being strapped to a gurney and placed in a room with rubber walls.

Another horrible trade by bowman. A journeyman who doesn't bring anything unique. On the Olympics front the American team is too tiny. They got manhandled physically by Slovenia. Let that sink in. Wisnewski only played two minutes on the pp wtf he had one of the only hits. No way welch the turn over machine or Gunderson should have played over him. The rookie prospect looked so so greenway big went to the front wasn't great on the boards not physical at all. And the other rookie left the best player alone in front of the net in ot.

I disagree with you. Soshnikov, healthy or not, has not translated well to the NHL yet. He's one of those "potential" players. Could go either way. Not a big deal the Hawks didn't trade for him.

Remember, these are the same Blues that traded a 3rd round pick and a forward prospect to get Nail Yakupov.

Question, if you claim a player on waivers wouldn’t he have to stay up on the NHL club that claimed him?

He will play some for the Blues so they can check out his "potential."

We"ll have Stan's preference - the "absolutely no potential" Chris DiDomenico.

Definitely a bad move but his other two moves allowed the clown car to take a lap around Chicago for the parade.

Not sure why there is so much griping on the trade. Pokka sucks and a rfa at seasons end. DiDimenico sucks and a UFA at the end of the season. Forward depth for the Rock.

Not like kempny was traded for DiDimenico.

Stan should concentrate on the Hawk problems. I don't think the move today helaps the Hawks or the Rock. Senseless move

Yes and no. If you claim a player off waivers and send him down, the original team can (and most likely will) reclaim him. That happened to DiDomenico already when he was claimed by Tampa.

However, once a player goes through waivers without being claimed, he can be basically sent down later after being traded without going on waivers again. That is why DiDomenico can go straight to Rockford now and that is Cody Franson actually has a bit more value.

Honestly don't care -- Pokka WAS a p.o.s. as I've stated here many times before.
Slow footed and NOT an NHL defender.
I agree, at least Blowman didn't give away Kempny (who I do think IS an NHL defender and given the right coaching, could be a 2nd pair guy).

Just pointing out that this was the ultimate conclusion I saw way back when so much of the talk here was about Pokka being some great prospect. It was all poppycock then, confirmed now.

And just another example of Stan with his learner's permit (which BTW, I believe he still has). Hope Rocky has good insurance.

Agree on the first part, disagree on the second. Minor move, but there is too many dmen in Rockford and I guess almost everybody was ahead of Pokka, especially with the addition of Clendening, Forsling being sent down and Snuggerud getting healthy too. DiDomenico will help the forward depth, there is not many bodies there and he should be able to produce. He is probably gone after the season, wish Pokka would get back more, but that ship has sailed long time ago.
