i do feel like the bronze at the world jrs was a disappointment and the olympics could easily be medalless.. but the women should get gold and there are some young studs in USA hockey

You cant say USA Hockey is at fault for Olympics. they have AHL journeymen.

Now why is that?

Beat Canada in Outdoor game
Have a great young nucleus of players - Bellows & Middelstad were 1st team and player of the Tourney
Won a bronze
Other teams - U18 & U17 teams won their World Showcases

*Girls team will win a Gold Medal this Olympics (I know they lost last night to Canada, out played them and outshot them 45-23).

USA Hockey is very strong......

If your saying because Johnson passed away, Jr Team lost, this years Olympic team is not competitive (Look at NHL for that, not USA Hockey).

Disagree, but its just so easy to be negaitive on this site!

I'm saying this exactly. USA Hockey is still in a better place than it was 10 years ago, but if it really wants to be at that top level, it needs to be a point where they expect to win, not just hope to win. They still operate like they are in the "hope" stage.

So does Canada and so does every other team in this tournament. It's an even playing field.

100% disagree! Won Gold last year in World Jr's, that count! Your opinion, I just disagree.

Olympics DO NOT represent USA Hockey.

If you are saying this Olympics represents USA Hockey, or any country? You are sadly mistaken

Girls Hockey on the other hand, yes! USA

I'm saying it's an even playing field. Pros or retreads, USA Hockey should not be losing to Slovenia. Period. Have expectations, not excuses.

Women's hockey is interesting because they have had the upper hand in just about every other event except for the Olympics. When it comes to the Olympics, the US just seems to melt against Canada.

Like I said, I want USA Hockey in a position where it expects to win, not just hopes to win. It is at a point, both men and women, where anything other than first place should be considered a failure, just like in Canada.

Skill wise, Mittelstadt and probably a few other college kids have way more skill than these euro-league guys. The USA braintrust played it safe in a year where they should have swung for the fences

Canada didn't bring over any Junior eligible kids either. For whatever reason, all of the nations' Olympic committees agreed not to do it. It's unfortunate, but not something you can blame USA Hockey for. It's still no excuse for not putting out a team that could beat the likes of a Slovenia.

But why did they pick 3 college kids, but leave out Mittelstadt, who is arguably one of the best American non-NHL players?

All of the college kids are not junior eligible (i.e. over the age of 20). It's just something the nations agreed to. I don't understand it, but they did it.

Wonder if Calgary is involved also. They have been scouting us recently as well as the flyers rumours that have been lingering.
