Hey...
if we trade up & whoever we pick becomes a “franchise” guy,
then whatever we traded toget him was worth it imo
I just don’t think it’s as EASY as Hat makes it seem
And we better make sure we take the right guy
Otherwise,
Losing all those picks & still having no QB will really set us back - jdfitz77
Never said it was going to be easy, just provided the conduit for how it can be done based on precedent. First it will take two willing trade partners, but if certain things fall right based on rumblings in the news like Captain Kirk to Denver and Rosen does not want to play for the Browns, who have two of the top 4 picks, helps are chances of making it happen. |

As every GM in the history of GM's has done. It happens.
But I feel we're in much better hands now, anyway. - Powerslave
Of course
It’s just compounded bc everything he tried to do for our defense was a miss |

I’ll admit it’s possible
Pretty risky too though |

Totally agree. It's about how he isn't taking many risks, but has gotten some risk/reward types to come here like Pouliot.
Pouliot - cost nothing, no risk w/ term, will get a return at the deadline most likely
Beaulieu - bust, but only cost a 3rd
Wilson - has a spot on this team moving forward as our swiss army knife player...only cost a 5th I believe
Antipin - already set up, but he's a 6-7 on a good team and was free, he didn't ruin it
Mittelstadt - looks to be one of the best players in his draft class thus far. at 8 he should be, but we all know that not all #8s (or #2s) are created equal.
Scandella - quality top4 defender with term, good add on D
Pommer - cap dump, had to be taken on in order to move Enzo, probably should be better than he is, but no fault to JBotts here IMO
Griffith - free asset, bust. no harm done, he's helping Rochacha
I'm probably forgetting someone, but it seems most if not all the main cogs he's brought in were either cheap or free and, while they aren't all successful, I see he's batting at a lot higher percentage than any of his predecessors including Darcy who wouldn't pull the trigger unless he thought it was a slam dunk. I'm very pleased thus far. He really set up Rochester nicely as well with the Porter, Paetsch type signings as well. |

Especially considering nobody has any idea where he'll end up getting drafted. Could be #1 overall (unlikely) or he could last to #21 (even more unlikely). Rumors are the Jets love him, so You'd have to move ahead of them to get him. That would mean moving to #2 (Giants), and if you move to #2 why Mayfield over Rosen, #3 (colts), #4 (Cleveland), or #5 (Denver). Denver wants a QB and could very easily take Mayfield too, unless they sign Cousins.
I say sign Bradford, whom, if healthy (a big if) I think is the best available QB out there and draft Jackson as the future. Jackson needs to gain some serious wait, but, would fit in the new offense perfectly. - turbo044
Why Bradford over Keenum?
Keenum was much better with the same basic team than Bradford was the year before
And idk about Lamar Jackson
Some think he’ll be a WR in the NFL
I do like Rudolph though |

Agree
He hasn’t screwed anything up yet
But besides Mittelstadt...
idk that he’s done much to move us forward either?
Turning Rochester into a winning team is a good thing, but it’s also gotta coincide with our young players there developing into players that help us up here
Off to a good start
But still tbd |

Keenum won't be available, MIN will resign him. Lamar is faster than Vick with an arm stronger than Vick. Accuracy isn't his strength and he's way too skinny. |

Yeah...
it would basically ruin the next 2-3 years where we’d be playing that QB
Then it’s another couple years before we develop another QB to take his place
All that said...
even getting a “Tony Romo” would probably be worth trading the picks to move up
I wonder how Beane/McDermott feel about QBs outside the top4 though?
Rudolph, Jackson, Falk, White, Ferguson, etc etc |

Idk about that
I’d have thought they’d done that by now if they wanted him
Very odd to me
As far as Jackson goes...
accuracy is the hardest thing to fix
And he seems to not read defenses great,
although that can be learned
He’s a project at best
Tons of talent though
Another “boom or bust” imo |

So does nico , ehlers , Jonathan drouin, Laine, Puljujärvi, Keller , Marner etc etc
But hey you do you - GERBE!!!75PTS
Everyone on that list was highly thought of, maybe except Ehlers.
Puljujarvi hasn't done anything yet.
Separate point.
The European teams are going to have an inherent advantage as they're basically the same teams minus one or two guys. USA and Canada are going to have some trouble. It's fine when everyone is an all-star the talent outweighs the newness, but when they're has-beens it's going to be pretty hard. |

As far as moving us forward I think he's doing it just by leaving things be. A lot of other GMs would have traded #8 or Nylander or Samson by now for a roster player. He's letting it melt in the pot, as Murray should have done. I think if we stand pat and draft well, we're a playoff team in 3 years time. |

this has to be the plan imo. There is no chance in hell of us contending for a cup next year so i really dont give a (frank) about how good we are. I really hope botts has a plan for after the lockout and sticks to it. Tank for one more year or not or whatever i dont care just be young, fast and ready to win in 3 years please. |

Unless we get Dahlin...
idk that the defense gets fixed by that strategy
Some moves will have to be made |

Didn’t spend stupid money and his one year assessment is going to get us a top 5 pick. I’d say that’s moving us forward. |

Yeah that would literally change everything. He reminds me of a Karlsson and Lindstrom. Whoever gets him is lucky as hell. |
