Thanks. Maybe if you don’t offer a pile of poop for our 2c then you’d get a better response. - Iggysbff
Kapanen would be your best winger, and the only guy that could keep up with McDavid ( Taylor Hall could have but Chia pet thought he had to go.. )
I thought Draisatl was your number 2C? I guess he is playing wing because you have nobody else with speed and skill besides Puljujarvi.

The Oilers need speed and skill on the wing. You are obviously strong at centre with McDavid and Draisatl.
The Leafs need a centre to backfill Bozak and Moore.
How about RNH for Kapanen, Soshnikov and a 2nd? - Rang
Pass.
Getting unproven assets for proven ones is what got the team into this mess (along with poor talent evaluation). Not a trend I want to see continue. |

OK, keep plugging along with Lucic and Maroon as your best wingers, maybe they will get faster. - Rang
"You won't accept my trade so you must not want to see any change in your roster. Has nothing to do with my trade proposal being bad or not fitting your needs."
Classic Leafs response is still classic. |

if there's a bigger trade with the leafs, i would think chia has his sites set on brown. probably fantasizes about the chemistry he had with mcd in junior.
i'm not sure what the leafs could squeeze out of chia if that was the case. but i imagine something good. |

He did fleece the Leafs in the Rask for Raycroft deal.
You could also argue he won the Kessel trade since that turned into Seguin and Dougie Hamilton-although Pittsburgh fans would argue.
The Maroon deal was good.
So not all bad-but agree he has to go if the Oilers are going to get better. - Rang
That's why I stated that it began with the Seguin trade.
He was on a trade up until that one. Ever since he's being eating one L after the next with few exceptions. |

I’m happy about the Seguin trade. It took some of the sting out of the Burke fiasco. My Bruins fan friends had a field day with that one. |

Funny that this misconception seems pretty rampant, but players really don't need to physically keep up with McDavid so much as they do mentally. Look at the players who have found the most success next to McDavid and what do they all have in common: average speed. All of Maroon, Draisaitl or Eberle are deficient in one aspect of their skating. Maroon is just a generally bad skater, Draisaitl is slow on the first step and Eberle lacks an elite separation gear. Players with great top speed (Hall and Pouliot) to have played with McDavid haven't seen better results, either.
Having different speeds of attack on the same line isn't a bad thing and likely actually serves to diversify and strengthen an attack. Changes of pace, variety of methods of attack, trailers, etc all are tactics that lend themselves to a creative and successful offense.
It's time people stop thinking you need elite top speed to play with or maximize McDavid because it's been tangibly disproved. We need smart players that can adapt and have a broad shooting arsenal (a category in which Kapanen likely still applies). |
