I usually get pissed when the puck get iced five times in row on an empty net. Is what it is, theres almost always a better play that can be made on every play. - TheHank
Very true, however, I'd still take breaking the play up to risking exactly what happened. |

Giant goal fr the sabres right there! Thanks evander. - TheHank
Hank- could you break down the goaltending for the sabres on the last 2 goals. In case anyone thinks lehner isn't part of the problem.
Thank you in advance

There's not a goalie in the league that's making that save in OT with any sort of regularity. |

You can move fundamentally correctly laterally with your chest up facing the puck and still not make that save most of the time too. One way is correct and good, the other way sucks. |

2 crossice passes in the last 2 goals and lehners diving to get in position. Doesn't he anticipate! It's not like karlsson is taking a 50 ft wristshot there. Though a 50 ft wristshot beat him last ot. |

I thought there was a lack of mechanics as well.
Just watched the goals again, not the easiest saves, but anticipating would have helped.

I understand what you are saying but this is bull-crap.
If someone takes the puck away from me, I likewise, gave it away. - BeadyEyedDouche
It's like forced errors vs. unforced errors in tennis. One is a good play by the other player, the other is a mistake |

Arizona is up 3-0 thru two on montreal right now.
The sabres are only 6pts back of montreal though. 5 behind edmonton. |

Tennis is decidedly not hockey.
If a QB throws a ball in football, and it's intercepted, it's an interception. There is no "WR giveaway" if it bounced of the receiver's hands or got deflected by someone. It's not always the QB's fault but it's 100% an interception because guess what? The ball was turned over.
Likewise, if someone takes the puck from me in hockey, it may not have been my fault (let's say the puck hit a divot or rolled up on me, I received a bad pass, etc...), but I still let someone take the puck away from me. |

I think it would be more akin to a strip sack or a forced fumble. But like you said, parallels between sports are tricky. |

But on the stat sheet, those plays still register as turnovers if the ball is turned over in the process.
If I take the puck away from someone, that player was doing something to have allowed that takeaway. I see no instance where the stripped player shouldn't also be hit with a giveaway.
It's not like I'm walking down the street with a 10$ bill and someone grabs it from me and he "took it away". That's theft. Or if I leave my bike unlocked outside of a store and it gets stolen. It was dumb, yeah, but I didn't give it away.
But in a team sport? How can I NOT have given the puck away if someone took it from the blade of my stick or stole possession from me? It's like, if I unintentionally block a shot, it's still a shot block, right? Or a goalie doesn't see a puck but still saves it, it's still a save, right? It's just kind of absurd. |
