There is no way to prove or disprove weather or not there were legitimate offer(s) on the table for Kane. I just find it very hard to believe there were not. I hope there were not and the current situation is just the product of a lack of real offers but again, we will probably never know unless he gets fired - lulags
The only way he was being traded early is if it was an out of the park offer, otherwise he will probably get the same 1st plus prospect at the deadline

I'm sure Botts has spoken to all of the 30 other gm's. I'm sure players/picks/prospects etc have been discussed by the ones interested. The fact is, no one outside of these organizations know exactly what or who was discussed. For any of us to say he "overplayed his hand", "bobbled the ball", "waited too long" (really? One major trade has occurred), etc is just speculation. - Powerslave
Hindsight is always 20/20 but If we were not going to keep Kane, and I think we can all agree all signs point towards us trading, I would have traded him in October/November when his value was presumably high. Just like we did with Vanek a bunch of years ago. |

Would you say the ball is being bobbled? - TheHank
Why? Because some guy from tsn thinks: the fact that kane has gone cold effects his value?
Hoping jbotts gains control of the ball, just before the end zone.
Great write up Michael:
Sounds like the for sale sign is out front tonight for both teams. |

Who says anyone was interested in him in Oct? Were second guessing the GM of a professional sports team when, in reality, he's the only one who has all the facts.
Honestly, as much as some on here think Botts "holding out" is hurting Kane's value, the exact opposite could hold true. If Nash and/or Pacioretti go first, that could start a bidding war, so to speak. |

Kane is actually heating up again. Doesn't he have a couple goals in the last 3 games? |

Homie said over a month ago a team offered two 1sts. If that was the case (doubt it) and he said no, he better hope some team offers the moon in the next coming weeks.
I would of jumped on two 1sts all day. |

Kane > Nash
Kane has produced more this year even with the slump included
Both UFA
Nash carries a higher cap hit
Nash has a NTC I believe - RhinoFan
Nash has playoff experience and none of the off ice issues that Kane has had.
Cap hits are irrelevant at this point. Both are UFA and both teams would be stupid not to retain salary to maximize the return on either player.

I think trading closer to the deadline allows more teams to have available cap room to take on a 5 plus million $ deal. It's prorated?
Also : not saying Kane is injury prone or a locker room problem, but if you trade for Kane in December and he is hurt by April, it's a bad look.

Rick Nash - played in playoffs before
Kane - Has not
Salary means nothing right now in terms of cap hit. both are UFA's
I wouldnt be surprised to see Nahs get equal to, or more value than Kane - ImThatGuy
Cap hit will matter since you can only retain 50% and Nash makes more than Kane, but I hear you it isn't the largest concern. However, a team like the Pens probably can't swing that. There are others in the same place.
Kane's game is perfect for the playoffs. He's been on crappy teams. Both are known commodities. Kane is producing more, with less...I'd be shocked if Nash brought more. Just opinion. You could be right. |

2 goals recently. I think the 1 goal in 20 or so games could have hurt his value.
Zero points in 10 straight.

And once Nash is traded, the other teams looking at Nash will turn their attention toward Kane. The Sabres will be fine with the return. |

Would be absolutely foolish to turn that down. Even if Botts wants NHL ready prospects, you still take that. You can always trade them later on for the help you need. |

I agree %100.
Jbotts would have jumped at that deal. Especially with the fear of injury. Kane plays a balls out style.
I'm sticking with jbotts regardless of the return.

No point in seconding guessing Botts at this point in time. The guy hasn't pulled the trigger yet on any TDL trades. |

Since December 1st
Kane - 4 points
Rick Nash - 10 Points - ImThatGuy
This year, same number of games played
Nash - 27 pts .47ppg
Kane - 38 pts .66ppg
I would say that is a significant difference in production, no? |
