Is Benoit Pouliot worth more than a 4th round pick?
His numbers say probably not, but his miniscule salary makes me think he's worth a 3rd as a bottom 6 impact player in the playoffs for a contender.
Maybe a 4th with conditions to be a 3rd. - kingcong39
Yeah, I think you're right on the money. To a certain kind of bubble team, he is a way better fit than Kane. Pouliot has what, 7 fewer goals than Kane, and the price will be far less.

I agree. I was sorta surprised his numbers weren't better when i looked them up. He's noticeable, in a good way, during games. The kind of cheap, savvy moves successful teams do at the deadline. A 3rd would be groovy.
I don't understand it at all, but I thought that if someone retired under contract then we'd be on the hook like a buyout. Or is that fake news?
Edit: I thought that's why we bought out Erhoff instead of looking for a trade partner. - RhinoFan
I think that only applies to contracts signed by players over 35. Kovalchuk conveniently disappeared right when the owner had financial troubles and the ruble exploded. No penalty there
With so many holes in that roster? Bring on the comp picks. So if both of those guys leave, what do we get? End of the 3rd?? Does it depend on what they sign for? - PrinceChill
Anywhere 3rd-7th according to a "proprietary formula".

Gerbe, totally out of the blue asked if I had Snapchat, I said no, why? Then he got all evasive, and then someone, sorry I can't remember who, said "he wants to show you his ding dong."

I think i actually remember that happening. I read this blog and forum for a couple years before i signed up and started posting. Either way, even without background its still funny and fitting.
According to an official report from Toronto Maple Leafs' Public Relations, the Leafs have traded 24-year-old forward Nikita Soshnikov to the St. Louis blues in exchange for a fourth round draft pick.

Michael, I just don't understand how you can title the article by saying 2 teams going in different directions. The Sabres have played well for a stretch of 11 games, and they still are only 6W-5L in that span. Yes, the Sens are falling on their faces, but both teams are terrible. The Sabres need to show it for a lot longer before we can say they are going in any direction but south.
Please don't take this the wrong way, I do enjoy your insight and knowledge regarding the Sabres/NHL. But it's hard to fathom how anyone can be optimistic - after such a short stretch - of basically average hockey; that's not even factoring in that their best player is likely out for the season... - Dukey3030
Really? I guess i missed all the optimism. Thanks for showing up.

I thought "Soch" was worth at least a 1st +, according to Leafs thread?...
