we have some common ground here. so someone lays you out with a legitimate with in the rules clean check...you want your team mates to assault that player?

disagree.. its not micromangagement for the refs to call the game according to the stated rules...

someone flagrant fouls in an NBA game...well lets all pair off and let the two guys have had it for 30 seconds...ya know to bring energy to the game...

i don't know of one person who watches or enjoys the nhl game because of cheap shots and fights...i know many who can't stand to watch and will never be a fan because of stated cheap shots and fighting....maybe you hang with a different crows than I...

and if its such needed and required part of the game why not teach it and encouragement from mite and pee wee hockey all the way up...

- bogiedoc

That's what makes hockey unique and special that you can fight your own battles. And yes I'm 30 so the crowd I hang with might be different but even the crowd I work with. Very few watch hockey because they say it reminds them of soccer. And most use to enjoy it especially the junior team in town when they use to fight and sell out all the time in the early 00. But since the ushl enacted that new 15 min for fighting no one goes to the game. My work use to have 14 seats season tickets now they have 6 and it's the same people that go. Just ones with kids that sit there and there kids run around the grand stand.

how about a couple of weeks ago the in the ducks/kings game...3 post face off "fights" immediately at the start of the game...

they probably texted each other before the game...hey lets go..WWF on skates...nothing accomplished, didn't change a damn thing...had nothing to do with actual playing the game...wow so happy we got that out of our system; retribution, energized the crowd and we showed them...pure nonsense...

want to energize the crowd or your team mates...how about making a play, great saves, a good clean hit...

Probably those teams fans favorite game of the year. Rather have guys fight then hit from behind and use there sticks. Watch the video the place was electric after that the players settled down. Would that have wrecked the game for you completely if you saw that? If so pro hockey isn't for you watch the ncaa or khl.
- vandymeer23

so 18k came to that game to get excited about 5 min of WWF crap at the beginning...and you think that stops all the nifty stick slashes and cross checks...

its interesting to me 70's - 90's when players supposedly "policed themselves" how the cheap shots and other mayhem on did not go down...

thats a straw-man..the issue is not if it wrecked the game for me...

ncaa hockey survives just fine generating energy and excitement with out the nhl "macho" jerkism

ahh yeah...just like those fights but not in the same sense...sure they are throwing real punches and looking foolish with their boxing stances...but their clownish and predictive...and just wonderful for the nhl's great concern about player safety...taking blows to the head and punching someone with a helmet and visor on...that takes real smarts...

we have some common ground...but i think its time to move on...

At UC. Heard from what I consider to be a reliable source. Not with the team but with the UC. Says Q will be out.

IF Sikura is truly a friend of his family than I would bet nothing happens until he signs.

Woah.

Apparently, they replayed the “players live playing for Q and think he is the best coach ever” video montage in the pre-game. I thought for sure that meant he was staying and McD had started his PR push.

THE only one making that decision is Rockwell Wirtz and with the organizational performance over the last 10 years despite the woes of the last 10 months...no chance that happens...

What worries me about the Hawks possibility of firing Q, is finding a new coach that will do better. Q has been with the Hawks for 10 years and they went through 7 coaches in the 10 years prior to him taking over. Are we in for another decade of coaches who are mediocre? Don't get me wrong, I know the Hawks roster was weaker in those years, but none of those coaches went on to have NHL success after the Hawks removed them.

I might be jaded a bit too, living where I do and watching the Oilers also go through many coaches without much success. Seems like great NHL coaches don't grow on trees. If Q isn't the guy anymore they have to have a solid and experienced NHL coach ready to come in.

That probably means not going to happen.

Question for anybody. ..... if possible. ..

Where do the Blackhawks rank for the season in terms of the following :

1. Shots Attempted
2. Shots Blocked (offensive)
3. Shots on Goal.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Hawks rank very high in all 3 categories and probably lead the league in #2.

You are right, which I think is a function of their perimeter game.

At 5v5

1) They are 2nd
2) 1st
3) 4th

The other thing I'd add is they are 16th in "high danger" shot attempts

All situations
1) 1st
2) 1st
3) 4th

and again 16th in high danger attempts.

One thing I'll say about this game...The Hawks are playing a more aggressive forecheck, which is nice to see.

If Wingels didn't hit that post, Toews would be looking at a 4 point night.

WSH doesn’t play defense, so a team that only has speed like the Hawks has a chance to win.

Any opponent that plays a tight physical game in the neutral zone against the Hawks pretty much wins the game.

It is better than the last time the Hawks played them and the Caps got the match ups they wanted playing at home and took advantage of the Hawks.

holtby is regular season goalie and the caps suck defensively...ovie will be on his back to russia again by the end of april at the latest...
