Apparently four fans were ejected for chanting basketball at devante in the penalty box. Somehow that's deemed ejectionable. Wonder if the hawks could have lawsuit on there hand unless they used a racial slur. Seems like a pretty harmless heckle. Everyone's so sensitive nowadays you can't even heckle at pro sporting events. - vandymeer23

devante is black, a significant # of black athletes play basketball. Hence the assumption I make is "you're black, you s/b playing basketball, what are you doing playing hockey?" Or something much meaner along those lines.
Good for the Blackhawks organization. There is no place for that crap in this world. It shouldn't matter what color a person's skin is or what nation he hails from, in this country (and in the world) he/she should have a right to pursue whatever work or pasttime pursuits presuming in the case of an NHL player, they have the requisite skills to do so.
It's an unbelievably horrible world out there with a lot of wackos. |

the hawks season trend tells us not get to excited about this a blow out win; such previous wins have given way to periods of weak play and losses:
opening two strong wins vs pens and jacket: lost badly to: blues, knights, wild, aves
beat the ducks 7-3 on 11/27: lost 5 in row and could not score more than 2 goals
one of their best games vs the jets on 12/14 5-1: lost 5 of the next 6
the senator wipe out 8-2 on 1/9: over the next 6 games scored more than 2 goals only once went 2-4 over; shut out 2x at home while losing 4x at home
wiped out the wings 5-1 on 1/25 and then needed forsberg to do head stands to beat the preds 2-1 before this recent 0 for february losing streak started...
so now they blow out a completely disinterested capital team: what next??
you have to go with the same old problems will rear its head and they will start losing again... |

Agreed, those four arsehole need a rude awaking. Not how you treat people - plain and simple. For the scoring at home this is front page FoxNews, CNN, ABCNews, etc. Not what this organization is about. |

i do have a question: major disclaimer...I do agree with you and savvy about the complete unacceptability of such taunts..
however the if that is a problem deeming ejection...is normal fandom taunting: "you motherffer loser", "wussy", "douchebag", etc etc..alot of those get thrown around here in this blog...ACCEPTABLE??...can only imagine what the players express on the ice...

According to HNIC tonight, word is CBJ have checked in on Artem Anisimov but the Blackhawks have let then know he's not available. - Justin Lowe
Pretty sure it was Torts who really liked Anisimov while he was in New York. Wouldn't be surprised if Columbus circles back around and ups the ante. That being said there's probably a few teams interested in a big 2nd/3rd line center for the playoffs. |

Have mixed feelings about this game.
Nice to see the boys play well, but we lost a chance to make gains on several teams in regard to the draft lottery -Arizona. Detroit, Florida among them. From here on in can we just lose while playing well? |

What has happened to cheering for your team when it scores and the odd deserved boo for the opposition?
What is happening in the stands at sporting events (including those where children are participants) is a reflection of what is happening in society in general. |

So which Hockey team is this... the team that got waxed last week by the Coyotes or the team that just beat the division leading Caps 7-1????
Either way it was good to see these guys break out and get a legit W. |

Amen. I really enjoy watching this team when the compete level is high. From here on out I want 50 minutes of great hockey going into the 3rd with the score tied at 5 and then Forsberg or Berube let in a soft one and we inch that much closer to a top 3 pick.

I wouldn't mind putting the three wheeled shopping card (Rosival) in net
Heck, I bet we could get Niemi back for a half empty gatorade bottle and a roll of sock tape

WGN game last night, meaning not on TV here in central Illinois.
Saw highlights. 'Hawks definitively solved the Caps defense.
Heard in comments here a couple of our young guys had runs taken at them. I continue to hope for pushback. - 35Tony0
WGN Hawks games are on in Bloomington and Peoria on MYTV. Had to dig to find it. (Comcast channel 914) |

I just wouldn't think dsp would get that mad over something as dumb as that. If a black guy in the crowd taunted the Russian guy on the bulls or jj RidRichard with hockey hockey how shaken would said player be? I've heard way worse heckling in high school sports. As long as they didn't use a slur but whatever. |

If a Bulls’ Russian was taunted because he is Russian - unacceptable and against American values.
If RidRichard was taunted because he is White - unacceptable and against American valued.
If high school athletes were taunted because of their backgrounds - unacceptable and against American values.
Smith-Pelly was taunted because he is Black....

Doesn't look like anything is happening with CBJ. I do like Jenner though.
As much as people want AA gone, I also wouldn't be shocked if he played out his contract here (if the salary cap cooperates).
The Hawks are weak at C and even if they did add another at the deadline or in the off-season.... both AA and Schmaltz could become C/W players to give them options. That'd give them Toews-AA/Scmaltz-new guy-Kampf.
If it were me, unless I could get a top 4 D or a young 200-foot Centre in return, I wouldn't move AA. |

Yep. The 'Hawks will look so much better come October if the upcoming draft provides them an NHL-ready defenseman with top 4 potential. |
