Pat, I think you are terrific but perhaps you need either less alcohol or more alcohol. - Savoy
What did you end up getting Panarin for Valentine's day, anyway? |

Plus Roenick wasn't the same player when he left and after his knee injury - PatShart
Roenick was certainly past his prime when he was traded although he had several decent years in Phx whereas Panarin was still approaching his prime when he was dealt. |

Kane with Panarin finished 1st and 3rd in league scoring and without Panarin he is currently 24th. Arm candy right? Doesn't get anymore real than that. |

I guess we won't mention without Panarin,Kane had a top 5 finish one year, was leading the league and over a ppg another year before he broke his collarbone....and won 3 cups and a conn smythe ... |

Who's fault is it that the Hawks have 3 NHL caliber defenseman on the roster? I'll wait StanBo apologists..... - EnzoD

Bernie Nichols had 150 points on Gretzky's LA Kings team in one season. I dk if he was a full time linematte. |

Just my anecdotal observation, but seems to me that when there is any k8nd of fisticuffs - even if one is (or 3 are) the aggressor(s) and the other innocently tries to avoid the fight - penalties are given to both teams. - StLBravesFan
Seems you're more right than wrong. At least that's what I've noticed over the years. But not many people hear what is being said while all the shenanigans are happeniing on the ice and at the penalty box. And it seems to me that attitude is considered by the refs as well, which might help explain some of the strange calls. |

I am a huge Kane fan. Nobody on this board defended Kane more than I did back when he had his little dust up. Some of the comments were really shocking judging him guilty back then. So many guys wanted him off the team. Unreal. |

So after we conclude that the Ducks should have had some additional penalty time for that incident, wouldn't we mostly all agree it would be nice if the Hawks had a player like Josh Manson. And where were all of the other Hawks when Hartman was being attacked? |

Can't stand Hartman. love what mason did it was a good clean hit but when you have the rep of being a bigger hitter guys are gonna want to stand up for there teammates. With so little fighters and fighting in the league today I'm happy to see any fight. People hated fights off the draw and say I like the heat of the moment fights. Well that was one and people still complained. |

Exactly this team doesn't have much unity. You can only count a handful of times where a hawk stood up for another one. Last example was Sharp and Foley and Konroyd couldn't get enough of it.
I would love Josh Manson on the hawks he would be our #2 |

He's having a down year. But he's proven to be good without the almighty panarin. What has Panarin ever done without Kane? Not even in top 30 in scoring. |

So I see your point is that Kane was never able to place higher in the league scoring race until Panarin came on board and now that Panarin is gone Kane has dropped to 24th. |

what does it mean and why is it necessary to "stand up for your team mate" after he is the recipient of a good clean hit which is part of the game?
3 guys jump hartman with cogliano (fresh off a suspension) coming in high with a stick to the face while the other two are attempting assault and hartman (correctly) refused to engage...
i know you and i will never agree...but the league would be better off to do away with staged fights...get it out of the game completely...the refs actually enforcing the rules...and throwing guys out..calling 5 min majors .. and heavy suspensions... in addition to having teams pay a price
in addition call the malicious cross checks to the head and back and reckless slashes, sticks are to be on the ice to get and have the puck not to be used as weapons...
none of this will ever happen because the nhl is run by a bunch of phony player safety neanderthals

Lol...savior panarin has 1 more goal than bad year Saad
Must not have any escalators in his contract this year - PatShart
Neverminding those 30 assists which I guess weren't connected to goals?
I'm going to guess that Saader doesn't quite have that many, correct?

Who would watch that league? The nhl use to be close to basketball as the third sport in the US what are they now 5th? Mma and golf probably passing them buy.
I to think what cogliano did was cheap going in stick high but that's what you get when you don't have guys to control the game. Guys use there sticks way to much now a days. Manson and Kesler had the right approach with dropping the gloves who cares they ran into each other. If I got cheap shotted or laid out I wish I had tm to stand up for me.
And you say let the refs handle it and just fine everybody. That's what's wrong with today everybody wants someone else to do something and everything micromamaged. I agree with Mark Howe the games better when players police the game. If someone does a bertuzzi or mcsorley type incident then the league lays the hammer down. |

And what staged fights do you speak of? There is no such thing but I'm sure you just assume it's when two guys go off the face off when that's not true.
Reason why players fight
1. Retribution for themselves or teammate
2. Energy To wake the team up get a spark going.
3. To keep there place. If your a new player trying to make a impression a guy trying to earn your stripes or keep your spot in the show. |

I'll never like the fact that these days a guy has to fight his way out after a good solid legal hit. That ducks guy put his head down and that's what should happen. So I agree that there should have been more guys in the box.
And yes, I agree that the hawks should have a guy like Manson. Murphy want's to be that guy and tries to be, but never will be. |

I noticed when Hartman had his gloves off, his one hand was seriously taped up all the way up the thumb. Thank Corey effing Perry for that from last year's last regular season game.
After that three on one the Ducks put on him, EVERY Blackhawk should have, let's say, played a different style of game the rest of the way versus the D(f)ucks. |

With Panarin you have the highest scoring line in the NHL and without him you have zip. Cost certainty is propaganda. There will be dozens of transactions which are opportunities to raise money for Panarin before his contract expires. Example Hossa money, retirements, trades, buyouts etc etc. This was not a hockey trade. IMO it was a retribution trade for losing in the first round. So who got traded? Strangely only guys who were easiest to trade because they didn't have protection in their contracts. JMO. - Savoy
The highest scoring line in the league does not guarantee a Stanley Cup. If it did, there would be no reason for the playoffs; the cup could be awarded at the end of the season to the team with the highest scoring line. (On the positive side, this approach might reduce the use of the blender; coaches would be more inclined to keep lines together.)
And somehow it doesn't seem so strange to me that the guys who were traded were the ones who could be traded. It seems more inevitable than strange. |

Somebody should catch Bettman or anyone in the NHL office in an interview. Better yet of video feed. Corner them, be relentless then put it on the internet. Publicize the heck out of it. Imagine if someone with dollars aplenty could get the major Canadien daily newspapers to print a full page ad. It Wouldn't cost nearly as much as even only a few years ago since the newspapers and radio has been going down the drain with internet the reason why. Accountability, pressure. It could happen. Although truly more wishful thinking than reality |

On another note, kudos to several BLACKHAWKS, last night stood in the long line to pay their respects to slain police commander Paul Bauer. Another class act By the best organization in pro sports. It is a huge loss for Chicago we are all going to miss Paul. Rest in peace brother! |
