One of the problems JB had to deal with is that none of their prospects were ready. I get that you want to move on from these guys, but their replacements aren't ready, and you can't roll out that much youth at one time. Trades and UFA's alone can't fix this team. - Lunaion
For the guy's who need to be moved by the deadline, why wait? If there are teams interested in our guys, begin making the moves. No one is going to over pay us for these guys. If GMJB has suitors why always wait until the last minute as if someone is going panic and offer more? That really doesn't happen. Waiting for a better deal is going to get us half of what Kane would have brought back 2 months ago. |

Trading Gorges for a 5th sends the wrong message. You lose your dressing room by dumping a warrior (like him or not) for nothing. - Powerslave
trading gorges, larry, gus, falk or any other depth players sends no message at all...
moving reinhart or ror?
I believe that would certainly send a message...if, in fact, that's what botts wants to do |

Imo, if Wilson was good enough to play on a Cup winning team, and actually contribute, he's good enough for me. - Powerslave

Again, who has said he has suitors? Source? There are teams "interested". That doesn't mean they've offered anything jbotts wants. |

I think they would have dealt him at any point this season, if they had an offer. His contract is tough to move before the deadline.

Fair enough, but to just dump him for a meaningless draft pick because the GM thinks it will "send a message" isn't realistic. |

Have until next monday.
Why rush ? - cabin
Why always wait until the last possible minute and then have to settle for less like we did with McGinn? Teams will start making moves soon, the Kings already did. Every team that makes a move is a potential suitor for our guys who is now off the board. |

I'd add NOT extending Kane and holding off on Reinhart and Lehner were prudent and important decisions as well.
Pouliot was a smart gamble.
I think he's played the hand he was dealt well. - Lunaion
Excellent points.
Tmgm would have signed these guys to contracts that would be impossible to move forward.
Is jbotts a bad gm for wanting to watch ror, okposo and risto up close for a year?
We all fill flop on this board with all of those guys. I'm sure he feels different on different days. |

Maybe the other GM is waiting . Remember it takes 2 |

the rest of deal is prorated this year and there isn't much left...plus, aren't the sabres willing to eat half to facilitate a deal? |

Honestly, I don't think it's that easy.
Half the playoff teams have cap issues, and are better served waiting until the deadline.
Half the playoff teams aren't sure they're playoff teams, and want to wait before making a move.
Significant moves 2 months out are really the exception.

I like GMJB and I like the moves he's made so far. I'm just saying that if he's so upset with the team currently, than he needs to do something. He's has 75% of this roster he can move and no one would give a damn. He's got 20 other teams who are probably buyers he can work with, and he's got 2 weeks left to move a bunch of guys and get what he can. I just cannot buy that there's no dance partners for him right now. Even trading Gorges for a 5th would send a massage to the team. To do nothing all season while they stink and then freak out over their poor play and still do nothing, sends out a very weird mixed message. - sskkoo1
Trading gorges is a message of ? Trying to win?
Jbotts is trying to get a high pick.
Seriously why wouldn't he want these top dudes in the draft?
The whole slamming doors could be a trade for gorges falling thru. Someone took that 5th off the table.
Maybe Deon phaneaf filled that bill?
Maybe Kane was going to jump on the kings bus after the game. The didn't like what they saw, said and said no?
We have no idea what made him angry? |

Perhaps he's less inclined to deal a guy out of that sorry a$$ dressing room who has actual (frank)ing NHL clout in the hopes that some of it will actually wear off on some of these losers.
Like, hate or are indifferent towards Gorges, he gives his all. |

I agree.
I think we are 2 for 2 on trades so far
Scandella > Foligno and Ennis
Wilson > 5th pick
Jack > 80 million. Especially years 3-8
Mitts looks great - Boss34
Wasn't Bowl-U a trade he made? Not sure that is a win or loss, but yea. |

That's my point. The closer it gets to the deadline, the easier he is to move.
I think they would have loved to move him in October. I'm sure neither side enjoyed having him as an 8th D in the press box.

Well, he's got himself so upset that he's screaming and slamming doors during a game and yet in the past 5 months all he's done is bring in Wilson. He's got a whole team not named Jack or Casey he can move, and about 20 GM looking to buy, and yet nothing can be done. Sorry, I just can't buy that. Just my opinion, I'll leave it at that. |

my bad...misread it...
he should have some value as a reserve to a western conference team, hence the mention of st. louis...
if he gets the sabres a 5th, i'd be happy |

Again, I totally agree.
Tmgm brought him in for his leadership and balls out effort, not his actual on ice play.
Gorges is a warrior and an OT.

Not to mention, I read somewhere recently that Botts is trying to move him to a playoff contender. |
