He was signed as an undrafted FA out of college. I am pretty sure they get UFA status once their contracts are up. - buffalofan19

He's UFA. He qualifies under Group 6.
- over 25
- 3+ pro seasons
- less than 80 NHL games

They should, I believe that was one of the reasons he signed here. He was giving the opportunity to burn the first year on his ELC. |

It's also why Guhle burns a year this season and Nylander doesn't.

It's looking like we might have finally pulled a winner out of the system, if he walks from us it's going to be a big blow to this defense which blows already. Him a Guhle would be good help next season, hope GMJB gets Nelson signed soon. |

wrong, completely wrong.
In the great words of Harry Neale: There's only one time you should ever attempt a back-pass. Never. - BeadyEyedDouche
Um, no, both Scandella and Rodrigues were behind him.
It was a mis-communication. Scandella was the last man back. |

I just finished watching the recording o& the game.
For some reason, today it was very apparent to me they can’t pass...yes, I knew they absolutely suck at it, but today it just was very prominent.
Players can’t start skating cause the puck is in their skates, behind them, 3 feet off the ice, etc.
It was absolutely laughable.
My boy Scott Wilson scored, frogging phantom goal give to Okposo. - IonSabres
The biggest problem with the team, it makes a team that's already not very fast even slower. |

That was Kane’s 2nd meaningless last second goal in his last 3 goals.
Nice stat padder for those three who couldn’t bury one when it mattered - sbroads24
Has it mattered since October 23rd*?

Idk what the hell you're watching but Risto tried a fancy pass to a circling Rodriguezz, not a drop pass to "2 guys who were behind him", the only guy behind him was the Washington player since, you know, HE WAS THE GUY BEHIND HIM, AS IN RISTO HAD HIS BACK TO HIM
He had an attacking forward coming hard on him, tried to be fancy, whiffed on it and it was 100% on Risto, he blatantly turned it over to the Washington player.
Scandella was (frank)ing 15 feet away from him on the near-side circle.
It is 100% on Risto, it was moronic, and it was inexcusable.

I think he's a nice surprise, but hardly irreplaceable. He's head and shoulders above guys like Falk, Gorges, Beaulieu etc. but there are guys available every year who are.
If you can keep him for the third pair next year, great. If not, oh well. |

100% on Risto being too fancy and trying to over-handle the puck. He had Kuznetsov on him the ENTIRE TIME and tried a behind the back pass to Rodriguez, who was circling up the ice.
Risto was skating toward his own net, even, Scandella was completely in position. It was Ristolainen who wasn't doing his damn job here.
How on Earth you can defend this and try to blame anyone but Ristolainen blows my mind.

That's where I got the screen grab from.
Fine smartass, now the crowd is behind him:
He wasn't the last man back.
You sure need to brush up on your comprehension.
He went to leave it for Rodrigues, bobbled it, and the rest is history.
I've seen that play a hundred times where a guy is under pressure and leaves it for the guy circling behind him, so the guy on him skates past the puck.
Something you'd notice if you weren't watching ROR all (frank)ing game and counting all his 573 turnovers and how many times he falls. |

I was saying that I wasn't aware he had already played 3 pro seasons.
How 7 games, 11 games and 16 games count as "pro" seasons is beyond me, since he spent the majority of the time in the AHL. But whatever. We let him walk, we lose a developing player and it's gonna suck. |

1 game for a guy 20 and over is considered a season.
The player has completed 3 or more professional seasons - qualified by 11 or more professional games (for an 18/19 year old player), or 1 or more professional games (for a player aged 20 or older). This can include NHL, minor league, and European professional league seasons played while under an SPC. |

Okay guy, blame it on Scandella.
And yeah, I've seen the play a hundred times, and it's been infuriating a hundred times because the first thing you learn in pee-wee IS TO NEVER ATTEMPT A DROP-PASS, let alone in your own zone. |
