My guess is that they are looking for cheaper TV contracts. They are losing their playoff games to Fox. They relinquished the rights to the British Open a year early. They're laying off a ton of people. I'm not sure that the NHL is a way to help remedy this, but they have been paying more attention to the NHL as of late.

the only thing i can think of is that they realized baptiste is not a 4th line type player so they put nolan in for that role. now if nolan goes in and plays on anyhting higher than the 4th line i will be annoyed greatly
