I went into detail on why botts didn't like that offer

looking for players for impact in the next 2 to 3 years, not 6 years down the road for different gm (once canned)

you can call it fake all you want, it's not

and that jab was kind of calling me out, as I was the one who posted it

what I did find interesting, was the 2 firsts offered were post 2018 draft

the pens caved at the last minute and offered a 2018 first, plus for their new 3rd line center

what I got from that is the pens valued the center more than another winger

and the pens are still in the running for Kane this morning, as is 7 other teams

- homiedclown

I'm sorry for the jab, you have provided some great and enjoyable information for years.

I'm just bracing for the jbotts bashing that is inevitable, if we do not receive a huge return for Kane. (Some of it will be unjust) based on rumors.

I was surprised at dreger's comments in regards to jbotts looking for picks and not soon to be ready nhl players.

I would think jbotts would be very familiar with ahl players and would target those guys over picks.

Saying no to two first is beyond (frank)ing stupid

You could easily trade those first round picks for players in a package

Hell you can get the next Robin

any truth to the rumor that we might package lehner in a deal for carey price so the canadiens can free up room for karlsson and call up Zach Fucale to take over in his place as their goalie of the future

There is no way that we were offered two firsts. I think the return is really going to disappoint people.

Jbotts has a mba from the university of michigan.

Impressive to say the least.

I think he could figure out that , draft picks are future capital.

He could get 2 lehners

Of course. As it usually is

He wasn’t worth two firsts when we traded for him.

I think McPhee made a deal with the devil. No other explanation.

Promises also almost never get kept and honored, unless this was the return of the favor for taking Fleury in the expansion draft.

Armia was a 1st that wasn't panning out
Lemiuex was 2nd ( 1 pick from being a first)
Myers was a first
The first was a first

Kane was a first
Blowgo was a first.
Kasdorph was a 6th rounder.

Lost 2 (1sts) on paper there.
And stuck with blowgo and his contract.
Hopefully we get a 1st rounder before Monday at 3

God, I hope not. Any team that pays a goalie 10.5M is a team that's going nowhere for a long time. Montreal signed that terrible deal, it needs to stay with them, or at least stay out of Buffalo.

That's a great point.
I would think taking fluery wouldn't be a favor though?
Who did they pass up?
Or is it a favor to take the contract off Pittsburghs hands?

Only if Buffalo can get 3 teams to retain 50% so they're only on the hook for 12.5%.

That's ok now I guess.

Looks like Karlsson might actually get dealt.

and/or Montreal takes back some of our dead salary on the books (Hoff?)

Either way.... I can't imagine it happening. I never want to spend more than 5 mill on a goalie again.

they would retain but price is equal to Roy on a worse team imo

Can you guys believe the Sabres let Drury AND Briere walk out of here for nothing?

Price is very very good, but it's still way too much money and term on a 30 year old goalie. If he falls apart over the next few years, your team is finished. And, rumors have it that he has off-ice problems, so I'm not sure how much his head in the game presently. Hard pass on Price. Ullmark and a reliable vet sound good to me next season.

It's not lke we could have traded them off a Presidents trophy winning team that was expected to win the cup. Even the Leafs have quality players that will be most likely walking for nothing at the end of the season.
