Yep, pick guys with more games in a week - SABRES 89
I feel like next year is going to be much much more interesting with a lot of the big name entry level contracts ending. |

Johnny oduya and (maybe?) Chad Ruhwedel.
Seriously though, the style may not be necessary, but the question is whether it’s desirable. Whether necessary or not, if it’s desirable the style will have value in the market |

Good points.
However, it it not an either/or skill or bad ass.
With Kane it is both.
The other night, in a few moments I watched, a Player was acting snarky around their net, mister tough guy...until he realized it was Kane there...then he minded his business and skated off....did need to throw them.
I’d still rather have a guy who can deal it, deal with it and score than to not have one at all.
Yes, you can win without it, no doubt.
From a fan perspective love it.
From a GM perspective, between one that has it, and one who doesn’t ...me, I’m taking the guy who has it and can score.
It ain’t like a choice of Tradebait between Kane at 5G or Malkin at 30 Gs

From this era. And matt cullen (the centre btw) doesnt play the same game as evander kane.
And what i notice from your list is entirely low cost bottom 6 players. |

Agree to disagree i suppose. There are so many other areas that need to be checked off before you can worry about toughness in an era where its at an all time low

Exactly, thank you.
Bottom 6 guys who play 11m a game
Versus a 20/20 guy through 60 who can most likely pummel them and pot some goals in crunch time
Of course he is going to cost more. |

but if you can address that toughness for a 3rd rounder, why would you pay huge assets for a guy scoring at the same rate 5v5 (which we see more of in the playoffs because refs put their whistles away) as Benoit Pouliot? |

See, you are still hung on a either toughness or skill.
He brings both.

does he? I didnt realize it was a skill to rifle shots 30 feet over the net from the top of the circle. or to take tap ins from jack eichel. |

Because teams who have little toughness (Tampa) feel they need the toughness on the ice for 17m versus a 4th liner who gets scratched 50% of the time...and can pot the goals ... 2fer...a more rare combination.
He is a somewhat unigue player in that regard. |

I think you’re overemphasizing fighting and underemphasizing toughness. The game is still very very physical. |

I dont dispute that, but most forwards these days can take a hit. As soft as Reinhart is, he can still get in the dirty areas and make plays. Its no longer something you long for because most high end forwards seem to have it now.
