You don't need to see him play, he is a 5th round pick. Statistical analysis of the draft says he will be garbage.

Statistically it's virtually impossible to win the lottery. |

regardless of his on ice production, which has been debated to great length, his off ice reputation and ufa status were always going to bring his value down. Thats just the nature of rentals. - Sabresfan-365
He priced himself right out of the market with Kane and other GM's called his bluff. It was a mistake on his part like what Snow did with Vanek a few years back. Fans here just do not have the patience anymore to wait around another 3-5 years. Kane was not Botts' fault but he was a toxic asset that should have been dealt during his hot streak. |

I watched a lot of him on BU when he was a senior.. marginally impressive. points dont mean as much in the AHL. see matt moulson - Shadman306
O? and what is? not scoring? so Nylander is a beast. Fact is he was a ppg player in college, and is nearly a ppg player in the A. To think say he's not a good AHL player doesn't hold water. If you want to argue his impact that he will make in the NHL, fine. But stupid arguments like guys scoring in the AHL at his clip aren't good AHL players are going to be called out as just that. Stupid argument. |

No they are (frank)ing incompetent he could have easily trade him two months ago..
He obviously thought his value was so high that he put such a ridiculous price tag and ended up with a second round pick great (frank)ing job |

cost controlled young player with no damaging reputation.
Its about what id expect for kane. Honestly if i was gm of any contender i would stay far away from kane save for maybe LA so the fact that botts got anything is a-ok by me - Sabresfan-365
A “b” and a 2nd was the absolute lowest I’d have expected
With the other deals i saw happening,
I was expecting more
Obviously Botts took the best offer though
So i guess the market just didn’t bear it at the end of the day
Still hoping Gorges & Pouliot can be moves for mid-late round picks
Might as well get the lotto ticket for them |

He's not a prospect let's get that straight - GERBE!!!75PTS
just because i like to shut you up when your wrong, which is oh so often
Rookie Qualifications To be considered a rookie, a player must not have played in more than 25 NHL games in any preceding seasons, nor in six or more NHL games in each of any two preceding seasons. Any player at least 26 years of age (by September 15th of that season) is not considered a rookie.
2016-17 San Jose Sharks NHL 3 1 0 1 0 -2 -- -- -- -- --
2017-18 San Jose Sharks* NHL 19 0 4 4 2 -3
22 games played, 25 years old, and absolutely fits the criteria for the word prospect.
so yes he is a prospect thats a fact.
edit: 24 years old actually |

I agree on the last part. He gambled, still salvaged it in some way. we got some futures, a mid 20s guy with some upside, and avoided another bad contract. I'll take it |

Here's the condition of the first-round 2019 pick in the Evander Kane deal: if the Sharks re-sign Kane, it's a first; but if Kane walks into free agency, it's a second-round pick in 2019 - zombres
OMG, so Sharks miss the playoffs, win a lottery, my dream scenario will never come to fruition because there is no effin way they re-sign Kane and lose that pick? If this is true, the genius with an MBA from Michigan is an effin moron.

Statistically you're 100% wrong. One team wins it every year, so it can't be 'virtually impossible'. |

Whether it's right or wrong, reputation/perception drives 90% of trade value. Thats why Nash was always going to get more in return for NYR than Kane for us. The talent level wasn't even relevant to the GMs. Unfortunate but oh well (ps its also why i think ROR could still bring a haul if Botts chose to go that route) |

You have player X who is known to be looking at the UFA market for the first time once the year is over and has been at the center of issues on each team he was been a part of but has great talent. Do you send over the farm to guess and see if they fit with your team culture? To see if they gel with some of your top players as player X was really only able to produce with a young, stud center? It is a lot to risk for an opposing team and add to the fact they already gave up their 2nd and 3rd in this year's draft.
SJ was most likely the only team offering a chance of a 1st and everyone knows his talent is high but his time most likely will be short lived to help them push to make the playoffs. Might be a learning lesson for GMJB to sell earlier but with that was most likely the best you can get for a guy with some concerns and hasn't been producing as of late |
