Agree.
In today's watered down NHL he is a solid 3rd/4th liner. - Over50
His poise on the PP impresses me. Given he shouldn't be a PP guy and sometimes defaults the role here in Buff, I think he seems fairly smart with the puck. A decent shot that can net a few, but more or less a setup guy. He has the drive of an AHL guy trying to make it in the NHL, but that doesn't always last.
I look at this as a GM looking at what he has and saying when will this group be good enough to compete and realizing it is not in the near future. A roster player wouldn't help you. Next year will not be better than this one. It's another rebuild and this one will hopefully take its time, because the shortcuts are what got us to here. - Zschalberg
I agree my friend. I have said all along to have a plan for after the lockout and stick to it. I dont want shortcuts, it is what (frank)ed us before, royally. With that said i dont think a 2nd round pick in 2019 is going to help this team for another 5-6 years. If the value for kane really was what we got for him, some on here were drastically swinging from his Richard leading up to this deadline. Probably swinging from botterils Richard as well.

Botts had just raised his asking price
It was a reasonable assumption
I guess i was wrong
Just like u are about GMTM
He sucked
And totally set us back to the point we have to REBUILD AGAIN - jdfitz77
There's no guessing you were wrong, you were wrong. You aren't the GM so it doesn't really matter. What does matter is the GM of the team was way wrong and looks like a moron for having shoot for the stars expectations and getting what he got in return. Bad business and I'm sure he turned off a lot of GM's just like the organization did when they fired GMTM for not firing Bylsma.
A few months ago someone posted a rumour that Kane could have pulled two First rounders earlier this season. I said Botts should have been fired if that were the case.... I stand corrected.

Why not hope we win the lotto?
Don’t see the harm in it

Kane isn't very good, thats what made the deal bad - Sabresfan-365
To me the only "bad" thing about it is the condition on the 1st. I figured a 1st and a prospect, maybe a bit better than O'Regan, but I wouldn't sleep on him.
I'm, I don't want to say "pissed" because I don't have strong feelings either way, but the fact he didn't trade Pouliot is not good. He's the exact player that gets dealt on deadline day, a cheap, overachieving player for a 3rd. IDC about ROR or Reinhart, those aren't deadline deals. Reinhart possibly, but it would be stupid to sell low, if he can finish strong then we can say the first half of the season was an aberration.

GMTM literally was wrong with just about EVERY move he made
