Everyone done slitting their wrists or are certain individuals still staring down the barrel of a gun while standing on a ledge? - TheSabresTaco
I'm just irritated that the pick could be 2022 that's where I'm thinking like how do you draw up something that retarded
If the pick was 2019 fine I would be fine I wouldn't be female doging
I just don't think that pic has very much value in trade wise to acquire some people |

I was thinking for sure he was going to get us a first and we could use that to acquire a defenseman in a package

Right now if you are looking for someone to move to free up room for a quality UFA (not many out there let alone one that would want to come to this place right now) or via trade its ROR was he doesnt have a NMC or NTC.
Boone Jenner seems like a good fit but I doubt they would want to take on ROR's full salary with other contracts coming up so that leaves Carolina and Arizona
Arizona might be willing to part with Max Domi in the summer and Carolina might give up a dman we were all hoping for. Curious if he moves ROR but I would if I had any team willing to give a decent offer to take on his full cap hit. |

SO you go from this "I'm just irritated that the pick could be 2022 that's where I'm thinking like how do you draw up something that retarded"
Prove wrong
To
The above.
Realistically, you have no idea why you are mad other than we didn't get an 18 first round pick for Kane. |

Think of it like this.
For a rental, San Jose, the only team that offered something legitimate, alledgedly (can't get mad at that), they offered a 2nd and a 4th and a very solid AHL guy with NHL potential. If they sign him, they got a 1st and a 4th (or 3rd in 2020) and the same guy.
The rental market outside of Rick Nash was weak. It's abundantly clear Nash carries worlds more respect than Kane does. The baggage clearly was in play here. We will truly see what the league thinks of him in free agency.
The Sabres got the best return for a rental.
Vanek got an average AHL player and a waiver winger.
Grabner got a long term Russian prospect and a 2nd
Maroon got a 3rd and a no name prospect years behind O'Regan
Statsny got a 1st, 4th in 2020 and a prospect comparable to O'Regan with less offensive talent. Blue retained half salary
This was the price for rentals, and it's clear that Stats is a more valuable player and much more respected than Kane.
Bottom line. It sucks the Sabres didn't get more like Nash did, but overall, they got what they could and it's in line with the other rentals. |

I was wrong about the year but it's still bad we won't see that pick for a very long time.
But I'm kind of confused on the second is it a straight up 2019 2nd if they don't sign him?

A youngish center with a lot of term who is an extremely good top 6 center and one of the best faceoff men in the league.
Really depends who is interested and what Bot wants in return. I think you get a top prospect, a 1st, and a top 6 winger. |

2 Conditional picks
2019 First round pick (lottery protected, which means it can be pushed to 2020)
conditions - stays a 1st round pick if Kane re-signs, or SJ wins the Stanley Cup this year.
If neither happens it becomes a 2nd in 2019
2019 4th round pick can be pushed to 2020, but it will then become a 3rd round pick in 2020.

No short term help from the TDL.
Tell me this, though. Did any other rental receive short term help in return for their vets?
I totally 100% understand it's disappointing. We expected more. But to believe Botts failed because of what we expected is hardly rational. |

Ok so if the 2019 pick is Lottery protected does that mean they still can trade the pick at the deadline and they lose the lottery protection clause

Eh not really, If its lottery protected we don't get it if they win the lottery,
We do if they don't.
Say Kane resigns
My question is, if SJ falls apart, but doesn't win the lottery, and picks 6th does the pick then become ours?
Because that is how I read it. |
