Matt Murray was hurt at Pens practice today - Jets should send Hutch that way & fleece them for a 2nd because they will be desperate (payback for Brassard)

I don't know about that. I like the payback idea but I think we need Hutch going forward. I am more comfortable with Hutch in net then Mason.

He's been centering Steen and Tarasenko for most of the year. Not Berglund and Sobotka haha. Stastny is great. Been good in the playoffs. Wins a ton of faceoffs and is responsible on defense. Hope you guys win a cup with him.

He gets a bad rap because he has been hurt a lot and his production is a bit down from what it was in Colorado.

32 years old, UFA solid career and poised to bring two-way depth at centre for the Jets.

This is a vet player that is unlikely to disrupt chemistry while adding on-ice. Generally healthy in his career and fits Chevy's preference for players with NHL parents - perhaps because it is free leadership added to the team (it is intentional right?). He's not a 7 mil player anymore but is good value at 3.5m. 2/3 of a point/game with Blues - should be good for the same or more with Ehlers/Laine.

Good pickup for a late 1st round & Foley. Conditional 4th (condition based on re-signing in Wpg?)

The 4th is if Foley doesn't sign in St.Louis

The conditional 4th and your last line is interesting. Perhaps the club was not sure if Foley was going to sign on with the Jets. Ken Weibe says "if Foley doesn't sign with the Blues" Wpg gives up the conditional 4th.

Good trade, well done Chevy!

Blues could wait until after the 19th and sign him and get both but that won't happen

It's insurance because he's in the American college system & could realistically stay there, as he's not quite NHL ready & then potentially become a free-agent (like Vessey), if the Blues don't sign him by Aug.16, 2019. There are no conditions on stastny re-signing in Winnipeg.

Kane to San Jose. Conditional 2019 1st, and conditional 2020 4th, and Dan O'regan.

Similar to what the Jets paid for Stasny, I guess.

Basically been swapping in out with Schenn as the #1 / #2 center all year long.

if I'm reading this right.

Top 3 line mates by min

Steen 432, Sobotka 439, and Tarasenko 390.

Stastny is good on faceoffs and a great passer. If you need him to fight for pucks in the corners and along the boards, you are going to be greatly disappointed.

This from Ken Weibe:

Jets D Joe Morrow is known as a good puck-mover with strong skating ability. He had 17 goals and 64 points during his final season in #WHL with the Portland Winterhawks and was teammates with Nic Petan and Chase De Leo. Morrow has 7 G, 20 P in 103 #NHL games.

So, I imagine he is Moose bound.

I have not checked the St. Louis forums but you have to imagine they are just fuming. Only two points out and lost a top two center. Yikes !

Good acquisition for the Jets considering the minimal cost of a late round first. The rest of the deal might just end up being a fourth. I'm not sure if Foley might have even signed. I bet Chevy already knew he would not sign with Winnipeg. I have to admit that I never ever thought St. Louis would part with Statsny at this critical juncture and for a considerably reasonable price.

Players seem quite happy 1

Go Jets !

Foley would have been in tough to make the Jets in the next few years.
Behind Ehlers, Connor, Perreault, Lemieux , Vesalainen, in the long term on the LW side

Foley did not even have a deal- stayed at Providence so unless he was committing to the Jets after this year he was close to being a UFA. Better chance he might sign in US and I bet the Jets knew that.

Vegas pays for Brassard, we get Stasny. Chevy gets the last laugh.

I'd hazard to say that I thought Vegas was an overall loser in this trade deadline. Sure they got Tatar but at significant cost and they also had to take on salary in the Brassard trade. Personally I don't regard Tatar as one of those playoff tough guys you absolutely need on one's roster. I guess time will tell on that.

I thought Washington would have made a move. Very surprised they did not. Tampa , who already had a very strong D looks very tough now. Can't count Pittsburgh out with Brassard. Nashville filled a few holes. At the end of the day though the Jets when/if ever fully healthy have one heckuva lineup. I would think that Perrault /Little/ Roslovic would be regarded as our third line since they have more in the way of defensive and checking tenacity .... although really the second and third line are somewhat interchangeable. One wonders how teams manage to line match against our top three lines when they may only have one good checking line.
