keep going - homiedclown
Agreed . No urgency with this team. Might see a burst for 5 min a game . or the final minutes so the fans don't throw the seats on the ice |

Mittlestadt hasn't played not a single minute in the NHL, people need to slow down with him. I'll wait until I see him in the NHL and play well before I crown him the savior. - SABRES 89

To add to this Kane rhetoric:
Okay, locker room cancer, off-ice issues...
but what if teams across the league and respectively, their GM's, are essentially low-balling the Sabres organization because of:
1.) blatant tank (not with "dignity") two years in a row with Ted Nolan 100% chance of getting canned after the Eichel draft
2.) Trading a 3rd and signing Bylsma to a 5-year deal only to promptly fire him after 2 seasons
3.) Throwing all their faith in GMTM only to promptly fire him for standing by his vision, however diluted it was (he is part of a well known and respected hockey family) after only what was basically 3 seasons
4.) Firing Ruff, but not Regier, but then firing Rolston and Regier only less than a year later, after saying about Regier "what's he done wrong?" and Lindy "ain't goin' nowhere"
5.) Promising to spend all his money and "dig more wells" if he needs to in leaving no stone unturned in his pursuit of a Stanley Cup
6.) Complete dysfunctional management since he (Pegula) took over the team
Essentially, this team has lost all respect around the league for it's high turnover, shady business practices and questionable treatment of staff, reckless treatment of assets in the form of roster players (Erhoff; Leino) prospects and draft picks, and short leash on everyone involved in business decisions not named Russ Brandon.
I think it's a better assessment to say that Terry Pegula has demolished the prestige of an organization that although has no championships, has always had a rabid fanbase that had a massive amount of respect around the league. The blue-collar, working-class image now replaced by a fancy "Harbor Center", trying to nickname itself "Hockey Heaven" in the process of demolishing any resemblance of a professional sports team.
Teams weren't balking at Evander Kane's reputation, they were balking at Terry Pegula's reputation. Botteril may have respect across the league, but I'd argue that Pegula doesn't have much, if any, at this point. And he has hurt this team more than help it and absolutely buried it in the process.
Just a thought. |

I liked him when he was here before, but as captain he was bad. He's def washed up now. If they can make some improvements for next year, he and Wilson can split games as the extra forward |
