I understand what it means in terms of draft status....but I'm done hoping for losses.
What's the difference between 4 and 9 this year, is it that big? - gcomella34

For a team full of scrubs,
we somehow manage to still play well against some pretty good teams |

how is this game tied? - Sabresfan-365
Because Erod has been the best player on the ice.
On pace for 12 goals and 35-40 points, and is an intelligent player with speed. I'll take that all day long from a 3rd/4th liner. |

i kinda want the sabres to land Zadina this year and have him, mittelstadt and nylander just burn the AHL to the ground. - Sabresfan-365
Do you think Mittelstadt will sign to go the AHL? It would be great to teach him humility...but will that happen?
Just wondering.
On the draft thing:
They need to develop players they draft. Half the problem the Sabres have is relying on their top draft picks and not developing supporting players. |

You mean the guy that wasn't Yo Yo'd between Buffalo and Roch...just stayed in the AHL and developed is doing well?
Most players need that. I think this is part of what killed Fasching. What the heck was leadership thinking holding that kid up in the NHL? |

At this point I wont be surprised if Bott asks Mittelstadt to stay another year or vice versa. And for the first time in a while I may actually agree with that train of thought |

Im not sure, I think he'll sign at the end of this season though. After that really just depends where his game is at.
I assume you mean the round 2-7 picks re: developing? |

That's correct for the most part. I'm looking at contributions from the young guys they have that they actually kept.
Ullmark is doing well, Guhle is doing well, Nylander I'm wishy washy on but he needs another year I think.
Those vets are teaching those kids something. It's about building a culture. Inexperienced players typically can't do that.
So bring more young kids in, keep the vets, let them keep developing them.
Rinse, Wash, Repeat. - gcomella34
Like I said, it's not a bad thing. It's just a lot better if there's more NHL prospects there. It's actually alarming how few prospects are there with the number of draft picks in recent years. There's a good wave coming next year, reason to be optimistic on them.

Sabres need to win every once in a while, realize they're not just a huge pile of poop all the time. I for one don't have it in me to beg for losing, again and again. Hope we win Dahlin, won't pray to lose though. |

Sorry for the lack of clarification on that, developing, but yes that's what I mean.
It could be anecdotal, and I fully admit that, but out of Bailey, Baptiste, Fasching, Nelson, and ERod...all 2 - 7 or UDFA's which of them are doing well consistently.
Baptiste is the best of Bailey, Fasching.
But Nelson and ERod look like solid contributors in specific roles that can move up and down the roster in a pinch.
I realize the odds are low outside of top 10 really, but you have to find a way to have at least one starter, and one or two contributors per draft or college FA period to be continually successful.
Part of that is identifying talent (a BIG part) but if you don't develop that talent...it doesn't matter. |

I don't think he'll sign until the summer. He has every right to return to school vs playing in Rochester, if that's where they see him playing. I don't see him rushing that decision.

So, is everyone comfortable slotting Wilson into a 3rd - 4th line role next year?
I am, liking what I'm seeing out of him.
Sabres need top end talent, but they need to cycle out some of the problem children in the bottom 6.

Originally people thought Reinhart was mature beyond his years, going to be a good player, Captain material...although the stats are there, if I had a do over, he's in the AHL just learning to be a pro.
That's what I meant about humility, ensuring he comes in with a humble attitude to learn.
I should have specified that, I didn't mean he seems entitled. Just want to take steps to avoid that. |

If he's ready bring him up. There's no reason to keep him down if he's dominating. He's just going to get lazy. Not intentionally, he just won't have to work as hard and his skills will dull, so that when he does come up he'll have a huge adjustment. |

It's not a full tear down. It looks really bad right now, but there is a foundation to build on if they shed some dead weight, Guhle steps in, and Nylander develops, they'd be OK.
Don't take shortcuts, keep forcing Rochester to be a winner. It will come up to Buffalo. - gcomella34
Everyone is female doging up a storm.
Sabres are on a good path
This team was built to pick early
We need a half dozen more decent players
