Just saying
The games we won without Kane we also didn’t have Jack
My point was neither means anything about how good of a player they are - jdfitz77
That doesn't make sense?
Players on the ice have a direct correlation to winning and losing. |

Nylander with a nice assist last night, on the best stretch of his professional career right now. Finally at least starting to show a pulse. Now let’s see if he can carry it into the remainder of the season and playoffs. |

I wonder if it took this long due to his injury lingering for such a long period of time. |

I think we'll hear a lot about his struggles during the offseason. The hows and whys and so on and so fourth. There's no doubt he needs to turn the corner for good, but it's way, way too early to give up on him. Turns 20 tomorrow. Not what you would expect from an 8th overall but you can't forget about how much talent the kid has. 2 years left after this season on his entry level deal. Next year is a must-improve-a lot year for him. Still has a lot of potential value.
I firmly believe that his injury really (frank)ed up his season. Up to him to prove that it did. I have cautious optimism. |

"PLAYER X doesn't move the needle.
We're still in 30th place three years after we got him in 2015."
Why is this an argument anybody can accept?
Why do we all acknowledge that Eichel is great player, but you can list him as Player X just like anybody else.
PS Don't read this to say Jack is not great. He is. Read this to say the argument is bullpoop. |

Kris Baker seems to really like the play of Sean Malone, and is playing and developing the way he should be for the role he will likely have if he reaches the NHL. So that's something.
This is quite the turn from guys like Nick Baptiste, Johan Larsson, Zemgus Girgensons, Marcus Foligno, amongst others. Being prime time scorers in the A, only to come to Buffalo and "expect" to play big offensive minutes, only to be playing 3rd and 4th line minutes.
Part of the development model should absolutely be to play the role in which will be your bread and butter up top.
Love how that team is running these days. |

Because people make shoddy arguments every day on this site without inserting acceptable information into said argument.
"'Player X' stinks because he can't a,b,c."
How does that make him stink, though? That is every day here.
In the instance of Eichel, people are simply frustrated that we have wasted 3 years of him, so far. Saying that it's even partially his fault is ludicrous. |

Because you can't list him as player x, he moves the needle to well for that.
Look strictly eye test speaking Jack creates and more importantly he can create these plays with him as the genesis (at every game state) not the beneficiary.

Because it's an easy argument to make and requires no critical thinking.. ROR is here and we still don't win; therefore, ROR is a bad hockey player. Risto plays a thousand minutes a night and we still lose; therefore, Risto sucks at teh hockey.
It is a bullpoop argument. |

Did anyone else catch Risto turning down a hug/celebration from pommer after the OT goal last night?
Let's all wildly speculate about a rift between the old and young in the sabres locker room. |

Player x stinks and player x doesnt move the needle are two very different things, at least to me.

Which is totally valid, but it's certainly not unique to the Sabres. Leafs did it right.. Oilers, Sabres, etc, not so much... |

Speculation about his "lower body injury" is that it was a groin/hamstring.
I know I have been down on Nylander in the past but I'm hoping his recent play is a result of fully recovering from whatever injury it was.
Remember how long it took Fasching to get back up to speed after his groin injury?
