I mean even just Boeser and cap space puts us miles ahead of where we are now |

There was some indication the Sabres could have gotten a better deal if they moved Kane last summer, but I remembered something Botterill said not long after taking the job. He discussed how you have to be careful to not make decisions based on what you heard, as opposed to what you see.
One of Buffalo’s recent issues is spending so much on bad fits. Clearly, they made the choice to find out firsthand what they had. There wasn’t a market for Robin Lehner, either. If Botterill’s discovered anything, it’s that this is a much bigger rebuild than he thought.

We sent pick 43 back to LA for Fasching, Sprong was then taken at 46, Greenway at 50, we picked again, Guhle at 51. |

Eichel + Boeser in one draft is like getting the Sedin twins but probably better |

pretty weak draft so far - homiedclown
If Nylander doesn't bust (Big IF) the first 3 picks look like they might be okay... Been a while since we can say that about a sabres draft class

If this is where you're going, you're selling Bogo (50% retained, for anything), ROR, and whatever short term garbage we've got floating around here.
Okposo would be hard to trade (not impossible) plus... you need players. And he's hardly the worst thing about this team. |

I think ROR can still bring in a haul, better than schmaltz and bleackley
Same with risto to a lesser extent. That plus the picks at this years draft positions them well post lockout |

Not sure trading Risto, and to a lesser extent Scandella, is an effective use of assets. Not like they're Shea Weber and Ryan Suter, but they're cost controlled and aren't really hurting the team value wise. |

Kyle Okposo will not participate in Wednesday's game.
Okposo is celebrating the birth of his daughter. Congratulations to him and his growing family. He is expected to join the team on the trip. |

Sure is looking like we are 3 years from being anything close to good.... Let's just hope Mittlestadt is as good as we hope. Honestly the only thing I'm looking forward to anymore this year is getting him signed have him play a couple games here and send him to Rochester for the playoff's.

neither can really play the role they've been handed. In Ristolainen's case, the assets you get back can help re shape the overall core, maybe you land someone who can.
ROR and Risto deals probably net you a combined total of multiple 1st rounders, young roster player(s) and prospect(s). With or without them the team is bad, the difference is the brightness of the teams future. |

We really should trade O’Reilly anyways.
Could actually bring back something to make this team better |

Not that I disagree.. but are you ready to stomach Larssonsons as our 2 headed 2nd line center tire fire? |

Im guessing he'll move on from them as well and bring in stop gaps, either way im fine with it if it's done right. plus, might only be one if players and owners play hardball |
