Sabres suck. Sabres will always suck. If you need proof that the Sabres will always suck here it is: Ek says they will be very good(e47). When EK says something, the opposite is true every single time. The only time EK can be right about anything is if he disagrees with Tanner.

Made up rumors are tough to come by after the trade deadline so it's time to resort to baseless opinions for the next few months |

Great show, as usual. Love when Peter is on, by the way.
I wrote to Ek a week or so ago regarding my perceived bias against people of color in hockey in regard to "locker room issues" or "personality issues" and would love the panel and forum members to discuss this topic.
Evander Kane, Buff, JT Brown, Subban (How much has he done for children's charities?), immediately come to mind, not to mention Devante Smith-Pelley and Wayne Simmonds' experiences with crowds. When I heard the comment from Mike today about Kane being the only mentor for Eichel in Buffalo, I had to laugh. Why not Ryan "Drive-My-Car-Into-A-Tree-Because-I'm-Drunk" O'Reilly? Furthermore, on the topic of white players with serious issues in the league who are hailed as superstars, can we talk about Pat Kane and Drew Doughty's rape accusations? Pat Kane punching a cab driver? Jarrett Stoll's cocaine issues? Or perhaps Semyon Varlamov's domestic abuse accusations?
The point I'm making here is that it's so obvious (to me) that players of color in the league are disproportionately labeled as "problem children" when they account for a minuscule portion of the NHL compared to their white counterparts. Thoughts? |

I definitely think there are a group of people who will use any excuse to justify their racism. For years, football fans used to mock black quarterbacks. Doug Williams wins a Super Bowl as MVP and he never really received any credit for it. Black QBs are still mocked today. See Cam Newton.
Now Evander Kane might be a d1ck. I don't know him personally. But he's been a target ever since he's been in the league. But guys like Georges Laraque and Jarome Iginla never received any negativity towards them. At least I can't recall any. I'd never say anything bad to big Georges. 😂
Grant Fuhr was called a cocaine abuser in the 80s because he was one. PK Subban draws alot of disdain because God forbid a black hockey player would dare to have a personality. I think his teammates in Montreal were just mostly jealous of him. The Habs chose Therrien a total douchebag over him. By the way, PK seems to be doing just fine in Nashville.
I don't know. Maybe a lot of sports fans just like to pretend it's 1955 and only white athletes should be the stars of hockey. To me, I don't care what colour a player is. If he's good, I'll call him good. If he's bad, I'll call him bad. |

The first thing we need to do is calm down and stop the coach/GM carousel. Has Housley been amazing? No. But it's his first year. Did Botterill blow the trade deadline? Look at what he had to work with. This isn't NHL 95 where every trade ever is rubber stamped. The other GMs do have a brain as well. (Insert a at Garth and his non-stop trying to trade everybody on the team for every other team's best player.)
I still believe we have a lot of potential. A LOT. But until Pegula just sits back and lets the day-in-day-out management have a few years to work, things won't improve. Hopefully that will happen with the current staff.
(Also, how better would we be with last year's power play numbers? That is the biggest mind-boggle stat to me from this year.) |

THe Sabres are going to be very good in about 5 years if they get a few more very high picks and every one of their young players develop to their potential. |
