I wonder what happened withhim. 11OA you'd think would be better. - Retinalz
He was always garbage. Had a decent WJC as a 17 year and was overhyped. Most overrated prospect of his draft year. Lacks skill and Vision. A bit of a theme in the NHL to overate Canadian players with size. Look no further than that plug Rick Nash |

So is it the European skill or the North American heart he is lacking? |

Carlson won't sign here. the rest of the d are no upgrade on our current top 4. Karlsson we might be able to entice, next offseason after this, with a 12x7 deal. But do we want him for 12m a year? Will he even hit UFA? - Retinalz
If injuries have not caught up with him & he was enticed by our roster a contract is feasible. We have no huge contracts to stop us nor prolly will IMO |

Bryden Point - the kid is playing with some good players but jeez he just keeps putting up points, 55 in 65 games including 26 goals now. He was ranked 35th overall in the draft but slid to the third round at 79th overall.
Kids like him are why GM's are now going with skill and speed over size at the draft!! To be fair, even Benning and the scouting staff went out and drafted Palmu last year. - LeftCoaster
So why do ppl worry about EP then?
Being elusive is what its about. |

There's now a large collection of bottom six/fringe NHL'ers in the organization that Benning's put together. Motte seems to have just added to that pile.
I'd agree with you as there's only six spots and Gaunce, Granlund, Motte, Archy, Sutter, Gagner, Eriksson, Dowd, Virtanen, Boucher, Molino etc. are all bottom six guys. Baertschi and Goldobin are tweeners and probably are best served as third line guys with a good center.
Still void of some higher-end talent, Leipsic had a good first showing, maybe he's like those guys in Vegas that just needed opportunity and icetime? - LeftCoaster
Leipsic i think is a good 3rd wheel type of addition. JV is that also. Duos on the top 3 lines would be my focus. D is still a problem that will take a ton of work & luck. |

I think Benning would be wise to hang onto Archy, the guy brings size, toughness and energy when he's committed. Consistency is perhaps his downfall? Needs to bring it every night to be a regular NHL player.
I could see them bringing back the Sedins for a year, I don't want that, because after four years they still don't have anyone beyond Boeser and Horvat to fill a top six role, which is sad.
Hopefully Pettersson can come in and find the same quick success as Boeser. - LeftCoaster
All true whether ppl want the twins back or not. Thats simply how it is 👍 |

Coyotes traded their second round pick (likely 32nd overall) to Florida for Lawson Crouse
Whoops!!! - LeftCoaster
Take on bad contracts everyone says. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Knowing JB it probably wouldn't |

This is the problem when both your gm and team president are former NHL players. Too much loyalty being shown to these players. Linden especially... we'd be much better off with an office that wasn't full of canucks alumni - Bullfrog77

JV is a top 10 draft pick and should not be considered a third wheel lol

Just talked with Växjö Lakers general manager Henrik Evertsson about Elias Pettersson breaking Peter Forsberg's Swedish League's records and will he be ready for the NHL next year.
Evertsson wants Petterson back in Sweden next year, "He's a humble kid, it's his decision and not Vancouver's. He will make the right decision."

A couple tid bits to Rick D's convo with Vaxjo head coach and the like to the rest. |

I see no need to rush him but in saying that.
Could Van see something similar to Toronto where Nylander, Marner, Matthews came in. Could that Be Gaudette, Pettersson and Svechnikov, Tkachuk, or Zadina? |

Of course he wants the kid back in Sweden, who would want their star player to leave? I want EP to make the right decision for him, and not either organization. |

We'll see at camp but all signs point to him dressing here next season. |

The size excuse is really starting to pi$$ me off - first of all if he does make the team next year, why would anyone expect him to be on the top line playing against other teams top D? I see EP coming in and being in a similar spot as Barzal, playing 2nd line and having BO, Boeser take alot of the pressure off.
Theres a boat load of young guys, no different in size than EP that are currently doing just fine in the NHL...
Point, Panarin, Hischier, Marchessault, Konecny, Byron, Marner, EHLERS (pretty much the exact same size) Gaudreau, Keller, Kerfoot, DeBrincat, Aho, (frank) Kucherov is only 178 lbs!

You know that other then Ehlers, Marner, Hischier most if not all of those guys are 3-4 inches shorter. Even then those 3 are 2 inches shorter too
Anyways... I don't have a problem with his size. If he can play, he can play. If he is going to play like Ehlers, he probably won't need to out muscle too many D too often. |
