The size excuse is really starting to pi$$ me off - first of all if he does make the team next year, why would anyone expect him to be on the top line playing against other teams top D? I see EP coming in and being in a similar spot as Barzal, playing 2nd line and having BO, Boeser take alot of the pressure off.

Theres a boat load of young guys, no different in size than EP that are currently doing just fine in the NHL...
Point, Panarin, Hischier, Marchessault, Konecny, Byron, Marner, EHLERS (pretty much the exact same size) Gaudreau, Keller, Kerfoot, DeBrincat, Aho, (frank) Kucherov is only 178 lbs!

This coddling of prospects is a little over the top for me . I understand development as well as the next guy but cmon. Gaudette has already had three years , OJ two years and EP has proven he can compete against men. All three are currently better than what we have now on the Canucks.

Try them all if they fail after 25 games send them to Utica. We have spare parts that can fill in .

Bo will be 5 years in the league and 30 goal scorer Brock has proven he should be a NHL player.

You need to start slotting in some kids .Lipstick looks like he has NHL skill . Gaunce should be NHL ready JV also . You need to cut the umbilical chord .

So you're saying that you don't understand development at all?

More Jake's, less Brock's.

Just need some 60 grit in the lineup and they will be perennial cup hopefuls.

Don't rush them, but yes give them some games so they know where they are at. Utica is always an option for them.

That would be what pre season is for. There isn't any problem sending them to Utica for a while.

Boston model
They have 10 drafted prospects on their AHL team.

Van has 1! from the JB era, Brisebois

yep. With NCAA now and the elite leagues in Europe we don't need to be like DET and bury all our prospects in the AHL for 4 full years. Times are changing and we need to adapt. Yes, don't rush them...but we also don't need to bury them in the minors or leave them in the WHL either. There comes a point where they just can't learn more in their current environments and need to move up.

So shutting down Tanev and Eriksson for the season should provide lots of opportunity for youth.

Just talked with Växjö Lakers general manager Henrik Evertsson about Elias Pettersson breaking Peter Forsberg's Swedish League's records and will he be ready for the NHL next year.

Evertsson wants Petterson back in Sweden next year, "He's a humble kid, it's his decision and not Vancouver's. He will make the right decision."

A couple tid bits to Rick D's convo with Vaxjo head coach and the like to the rest.

No need to rush him but I think he needs to come over and get used to the small ice.

You’d be hard pressed to find a worse way to develop a prospect than the way Vancouver developed Virtanen

Van would certainly improve with at least 1 top notch D on the backend.
