There's now a large collection of bottom six/fringe NHL'ers in the organization that Benning's put together. Motte seems to have just added to that pile.
I'd agree with you as there's only six spots and Gaunce, Granlund, Motte, Archy, Sutter, Gagner, Eriksson, Dowd, Virtanen, Boucher, Molino etc. are all bottom six guys. Baertschi and Goldobin are tweeners and probably are best served as third line guys with a good center.
Still void of some higher-end talent, Leipsic had a good first showing, maybe he's like those guys in Vegas that just needed opportunity and icetime? - LeftCoaster
I liked his game before the trade and was scratching my head why the Leafs would protect Martin over him.

As much as the team “needs” the Sedins to come back for another season to remain “competitive”, I would much rather bite the bullet and actually be bad (or more likely, less bad than they are now but with less expectation) for one more year. I feel like a bunch of these kids are going to be transitioning in over the next 2-3 years. - 1970vintage
I'm on board with this. People are still considering Horvat a child next season and needs sheltering from taking on the leader role... That's not the player I see.

I’m in town and going to game tomorrow. Got to get a look at the youth.... lol
When is Gaudette and EP signing...? They’ll add to and upgrade on the BB and Bo talent. Then we are talking fast and exciting Canuck hockey.... - Nuck4U

You’d be hard pressed to find a worse way to develop a prospect than the way Vancouver developed Virtanen - classic321
He is coming around but yes. When drafted jake was considered a project because all he ever did was outmuscle everyone and play balls to the wall type hockey, it kind of pisses me off that coaches through the years didn't teach him responsible hockey. |

This coddling of prospects is a little over the top for me . I understand development as well as the next guy but cmon. Gaudette has already had three years , OJ two years and EP has proven he can compete against men. All three are currently better than what we have now on the Canucks.
Try them all if they fail after 25 games send them to Utica. We have spare parts that can fill in .
Bo will be 5 years in the league and 30 goal scorer Brock has proven he should be a NHL player.
You need to start slotting in some kids .Lipstick looks like he has NHL skill . Gaunce should be NHL ready JV also . You need to cut the umbilical chord . - VANTEL
I think they are going to sign the Sedins and phase them out depending how the most ready rookies like Gaudette and EP do with top 6 roles. Then all the spare parts guys will battle it out for 2 positions around Sutter.
