The real question is Snow better than Milbury?

It's actually debateable. Milbury was one extreme with way more money constraints Snow the complete opposite extreme with far less constraints then people care to remember. Not sticking up for milbury by any means the guy was terrible but it's not so clear cut.

Just the Chara trade and Yashin signing puts him way over Snow. Nevermind all the other awful trades, Luongo, McCabe,, on and on. |

Agreed, it's not clear cut, but Milbury wins the prize for being worse than Snow. And you're also right that Milbury was the opposite extreme from Snow, but with all the trades Milbury made, it's hard to remember many that he didn't lose. I would argue that Milbury lost every trade he made with two exceptions: Connolly and Pyatt for Peca; and a late round pick (I forget, maybe a 4th rounder?) for Jason Blake. Pretty sure he lost the other 4,000 trades he made. |

Okay, you all know I'm still new to the #NJDevils family. Can someone explain to me (other than the obvious that they were traded one-for-one) why every time Taylor Hall does something people tweet to me #oneforone?
edit she actually answered herself |

Snow is better than Milbury only because he will leave behind pieces for the next GM to work with. Milbury left behind scored earth and salted ground. |

I agree with this Cpt. Garth has had a better budget to work with. Milbury probably would have loved 4 years of a Ledecky budget. If MM was the GM this year, I doubt he sits on his hands with de Haan and Boychuk being hurt like Garth did. |

Just getting Barzal & Beau for Griffin (frank)ing Reinhart beats anything Milbury ever did |

Milbury discarded so many future all-stars it wasn’t funny. Worst part was you KNEW they were gonna turn into all-stars when he traded them. |

Crap, you agree with me?! I changed my mind.
It really is a stupid debate. I've said it before, it's like choosing which type of cancer you'd rather have. |

Boston putting up 8 against the Pens. Looks like finalist in the east will be coming out of the Atlantic. |

No real winners in this debate. I think Milbury had much worse owners and some of those trades he had to make because owners forced him into a barebones payroll. Milbury was just plain wrong on many other moves. He should not have traded Luongo and probably should have passed on Yashin. |

I think his worst move was hiring Capuano and keeping him for years. Second worst move was not quitting before he hired Crappy.
BTW, great idea for a blog Noel! Lots of material to work with. |

Laviolette, Osgood, he drafted most of these great players he traded away many of which he had to trade due to budgetary reasons.
There were some good to great and horrible for both.
Nino for clutterbuck. Capuano being our coach forever when he was obviously inept but kept on because of his friendship with the guy. Trading for Vanek when we needed defense. Return for vanek. Can honestly go on and on for both of them. Jimmy is right when and if Snow is gone we'll have something to work with. To me that's the clear difference between the two. Yes barzal is awesome but 12 years of rebuilding leads us to barzal who was a mid round pick im no way defines Snow's tenure. squirrel finding a nut(the nut being Chiarelli of course)kind of situation that worked. |

He was forced to trade Luongo. Yashin was a great player albeit overpaid. |
