He was forced to trade Luongo. Yashin was a great player albeit overpaid.

Pretty sure the Luongo trade happened shortly after Wang bought the Islanders. Milbury gets a pass during the Spano and Milstein-Gluckstern eras, but Wang opened up his checkbook as soon as he bought the team.

And Yashin was a great player, only if defense is optional.

You can say that about just about any high scoring forward of that time. Wasn't exactly the era of the two way forward save for a few exceptions. As far as Luongo is concerned he was traded due to him needing a contract and us not being able to afford him. I'm not sticking up for milbury he was (frank)ing awful nor do intend to keep this debate going. I made my point I'm moving on

No he wasn't. He traded Luongo because he just drafted DP #1 overall and thought DP was the goalie to build around. Luongo was still a kid making peanuts he didn't have to move him. Milbury traded him because he is Milbury and Milbury does foolish things. Palffy he was forced to trade because they weren't going to pay him

I do still work in media, just for places that actually pay me

I get paid to drive, and have been to the players houses.

It may have come down to that the smaller arena with limited skybox revenue meant a lower payroll team, so fans have been caught up in this 20 yr plus real estate saga with a GM controlling payroll for the owners and essentially hiring players to fit roles as opposed to a team where players had to compete to keep their positions.

The right GM with a fresh pov could easily fix this mess as opposed to the same retread philosophy. Speaking of Nolan and Neil Smith, both would be that pov to bring in just as consultants. Its obvious that DW with no previous coaching experience has no idea what is going on at times.

Weight on tonight’s lineup: Casey is in the hospital awaiting his first child and Ebs is a little sore so we're just trying to figure everything out right now

Not gonna even waste my time watching this one. That's probably going to end up a lie, but I might actually blow it off.

Would not mind seeing Gibson get the start. Will not matter either way. Goalies have not been the biggest issue. I do hope the Isles work on bringing over Sorokin. Do he even play that much at the Olympics?

BTW as for my vote to get things started, it is a tie in the Ted Nolan Region for me between:

1 Andrew Ladd signing (Bet cha didn't see this one coming from me.)and
2 injuries as excuse.

i just apologized to my ex-girlfriend for putting watching this rudderless titanic of a team over spending more time with her. i even dragged her out to some games with me. i feel kinda bad honestly. at least when i took my new lady to the game in carolina, they won. but we made out for half the game and then bounced before it was over. priorities.......
