Florida is winning all their games in hand on the Leafs (had 6), if the Leafs go on a slide they can find themselves in the wildcard race.

I said a few months ago to watch out for Florida catching the Leafs, it can happen. Leafs were winning playing horrid defence, it’s not out of the question that they go on a bad run.

The hardest teams to beat are the ones that have no pressure and nothing to play for, the leafs have a lot of those games coming up.

Just remember, It’s the Leafs after all.

Meh, they played awful sat. Other then that they’ve been solid. That would be a very big stretch for them to catch the leafs.

Also sounds like Matthews is progressing nicely. Tsn speculated that sat could be a return date but I would think they wait another week atleast to make sure he is healthy.

Can't say I watched the game Saturday or that I've been too happy with the effort in the last few losses but how was THIS not bound to be a poop show of a hockey game?:

I love your Leafs pessimism, but 3rd place is nailed down.

If the Leafs go 8-7 to close out the season, Florida has to go 16-3-1 to catch us.

Put another way, the Leafs are currently on pace for 104 points.

Florida is on pace for 91.

If I decide to avoid work this afternoon, I'll figure out a "magic number" of Leafs points + Florida loss of points to secure 3rd place.

Just use the Kaptaan statistical method.

All the teams chasing the Leafs are superior even though they have less points and it's inevitable that the Leafs drop out, if not at the hand of Florida, then someone else..... anyone else.

Not to mention Florida has to play a lot of games in the next couple weeks whereas the leafs seem like they will be fairly well rested.

Leafs have only played 67 games this year - so luck is the only determinant of record.

But boy oh boy, once we play 70 games, we are in a world of hurt. That's when talent becomes the determinant of record.

I'm not looking forward to next Wednesday's game against Dallas.

Don't forget to have the Leafs finishing with less points than they currently have at the time of calculation.

I thought it was the other way around?

I may have misunderstood in the latest Tanner class.

I hope there isn’t a huge collapse coming, their great record the last 15 games is not indicative or reflection of their actual poor play.

Mark Hunter has got the best vision for a future GM. His eye for talent is the best in the business. If it is Lou's last season than Mark should be the next Leaf GM

Will there be a live feed of Lou being sent out on the ice floe? Or will we have to buy tickets through Ticket Master?

what about their record the past 67 games?
I know what you mean...but they havent had great play most games and find ways to win.
I dont see them all of a sudden playing under .500 hockey and I dont see the panthers playing .740 hockey for 19 games.
