None of us are professional scouts

Are we allowed to have an opinion though?

Complaining about the bills scouting a guy cause you don't like him is one thing. But accusing them for not knowing what they're doing is something else.

With a few more early season losses, this team is sitting in 31st place, not 30th, and thus a better lottery percentage. I really thought this team was going to challenge for a playoff spot and I was WAY off. It hurt to watch them play so poorly because I so wanted them to be good and I was sick to death of watching losing hockey.

I guess what I'm getting at is "what do people want and how do they want it?" If it's Cup or bust, I find that kinda dismal. Any sort of meaningful spring hockey would be a welcome sight for these sore eyes. To me sport fandom is supposed to be somewhat emotional experience, but for years the only emotion seems to be numbness. And that sucks.

If the expectation is a bottom 5 finish, and the team ends up 10th from the bottom, is that failure or success? How does a first round playoff loss stack up against a top 3 draft pick?

If the team finished at around 10 it would be A confidence booster for the team

in the end it would hurt our franchise knowing that we could of had a Elite player

Might have one in Davis. Would be nice to see him have a Drayton Florenceesque revival with them.

Tons of back up free agent RBs available still. Gore, Ivory, Martin all awesome backups for McCoy. Especially the first two. Especially because they don't affect draft compensation picks.

I mean if you’re a Cleveland Browns fan do you trust anything the browns do anymore

So is the concept of always blowing the draft position and missing out on a elite player so we can accumulate a few meaningless wins in the last 1/8 of a failed season.

What if, just maybe, even with all the gaps on this team, they trade up for RGIII?
- TheSabresTaco

And what if they stay where they are and draft... Jp Losman or Ej Manuel
Or wait and draft another Trent Edwards, etc

We need a legit QB

There’s merits to both strategies

No matter which way they go...
if they don’t find a QB, then the rest of it didn’t mean squat

I have a question about next season. Are you (or anyone) going to root for wins in the beginning of the season? Because if the Sabres end up missing the playoffs, those early season wins would be damaging to draft position, right?
- PrinceChill

Root for the sabres to win at the beginning - of course

As soon as they fall out of the race and have a chance to draft early and pick an elite talent -root against them

Seams like common sense

I just can’t see his game Translate to the NFL his accuracy is terrible

Don’t get me wrong He was incredible in college

I think he’s going to be a great dual running back /wide receiver

Accuracy is the hardest thing to fix
Just ask Ej or Tyrod

I don't think it's as simple as you say. "As soon as they fall out of the race" sounds kinda vague.

If, at the deadline, the Sabres are five points out of the last playoff spot. What do you want? Where exactly does the line get drawn?

Were you pleased when Jack got hurt? Because it almost certainly will result in a better draft slot. Torn knee ligaments to Risto, Sam and ROR might also help bottoming out this year or even next. Is that common sense?

You’re going pretty far to the extreme talking about injuries

And we were 30th with Jack

I thought your last post was GREAT.
Well explained, fine line but:

Never root for injuries.
I think the difference between picks 9 - 16 isn't anywhere as important as top 8 picks

I'm sick of losing, I have season tickets.
But, we need another star, and the best chance is at the beginning of the draft.

I really think we are going to be good next year.
Enough is enough.
