I can't wait until we blow this whole thing up and start over in the summer

It's not gonna happen. They'll try to move some salary, but there's no way Tpegs approves a full tear down. There's also no good reason to do it. One reason TO's turnaround was quicker is that they left pieces in place for after their suck years. The sabres left Ennis, Moulson and Girgensons. No bueno

And they traded for a goaltender that was proven in the playoffs and cost them so little

Stastny
Backlund
Eller
Desharnais

We need one of those guys, maybe in that order

- jcragcrumple

Pass on all 4 .

And stastny I would never sign him he's going to get a huge contract but he will not back it up with his play here

i agree on stastny.. unless you are getting him for a medium term in the 5 mil range i would pass..,. and even 5 mil would probably be too much in about 3 years

Anybody hearing of any College Free Agents we could be chasing? I know GMJB loves College players, so I am sure we are chasing a few of them.

Thanks!

Stastny Plus he's 32 his play is going to slowly decline more more I don't want nothing to do with that

There has to be better options out there

He said no such thing. In fact, he laughed when asked if he would trade O'Reilly. Let's talk motivation for a second. There are 3 parties to convince that a full tear down is a good idea (more on that later)

Owner
GM
Fans

The owner has no motivation to get worse for 3 more years, the GM has no reason to get worse, and the fans (other than a contingent here) have no stomach for it. Botterill has repeatedly said building down the middle is a priority.

Now let's talk core.

Core players: Eichel, ROR, Risto
Strong supporting players: Scandella, Okposo, Reinhart, McCabe, Erod
Undesirables: Moulson, Pominville, Bogo, Gorges
Irrelevant: 28, 22, Nolan, Josefson, Lehner, etc.

So your core and strong supporting players are all on the young side, with the exception of Okposo. There is no reason to blow that up. Now, it is possible, maybe even probable, that some strong supporting players get moved to rid themselves of an undesirable contract. The Irrelevants will be shed. But will ROR or Reinhart or Risto be traded for futures? Absolutely not. There is an extended rebuild coming, but it's like putting a new roof on the old roof. It's not a full tear off

Ok, but who's taking these contracts?

Why move them unless your getting back 2 (55) point players? Ror and okposo are good second line players, even on a playoff team. We are not in cap trouble.

We're going to be competing for a playoff spot next year

Owner

( If we don't completely tear this down we're going to be back in to this same situation every year)

So they're going to do a quick fix and then we're good for a year and then back in the cellar that's not a very smart plan

I don't agree with retooling we need to completely destroy this roster and start with Jack, Casey,2018 pick
It's time to finally build through the draft and Ryan O'Reilly and Kyle and ristolainen will help us get picks to build the franchise right

I like a few of those guys (just googling them) but does anyone know of a rumor / link to the Sabres, like GMJB likes them? I know Brickley was at our development camp last year, just not sure that translates into us signing him, but I hope it does.

Maybe we can get a high Prospect for Ryan O'Reilly and a first I think Vegas would be an ideal place

Kyle is not going to get much ..

Ristolainen should get us a good package

Have not seen any I'm sure the coming weeks will be some rumors with the season coming to the end that's when the signings usually happen
