We are talking about 600k. Who cares. Its FAs money anyway. Its fine to try and factor in bonus's within the cap but i dont think most teams allocate that much cap for every player to hit their bonus's - Codes1087
I think he meant overall, rookie bonuses aren’t the issue lol. |

Which one is that? - Reubenkincade
I was wrong. It was a negotiated 20 goal bonus. And all other bonus's are league paid. He had only maxed team paid |

In general cap allocation hasn't been a strong suit for management. Its a 28th place team with 95% their own negotiated contracts, and they're facing an overage. If they'd taken on some problem contracts and it led to this then its one thing. To have it all on contracts you negotiated is another.
Most teams do allocate space for this, and the Canucks have a bunch of guys on ELCs and most aren't hitting their extra money. Its not like they needed 9 mil as a cushion.
This is a 28th place team that is over budget. Imagine if the Cleveland Browns went over the cap somehow. |

Henrik and daniel are 14 mill. Edler is 5? I think benning can be at fault for sutter, LE and gudbranson currently, and sbisa and dorsett previously. The rest will be determined after the cap goes up and the sedins are gone. |

Biech reported quite awhile back that he had maxed out on Sched A bonuses.
Brock had a good season and is a good kid, he and his faamily deserve these financial gains.

This team has spent close to the cap forever. If we didnt, the uneducated fans would start gofundme pages to put up billboards in an attempt to get rid of management |

Edler is solid value at 5M. He’d get more as a UFA this summer. Going to be interesting to see what they do with the 14M coming off of the books. |

Money to your most productive players is rarely an issue for any team. |

None of this is a reason or excuse for anything for people in charge of a 700 million dollar business. |

Catering to the uneducated fans sounds like a terrible way to run a pro sports team. |

When Gillis made a team with 4 good lines, 7 good D, elite goaltending, cutting edge sports science and early adoption of fancy stats while people were yelling on the radio "THIS TEAM NEEDS TO SIGN DEREK BOOGARD BECAUSE WHO ELSE WILL FIGHT THE GOON WHO PLAYS 5 MINUTES" |

I’m too young to remember, but my uncle who’s a casual fan has talked about how Keenan and Burke pissed off the fans here multiple times.
Gillis’ moneyball approach rubbed the older portion of the fanbase the wrong way |

Yeah Keenan did whatever the (frank) he wanted and Burke was Burke so you know what he thought of the fans and media.
Nonis was flaccid with no vision and well you've seen the guys in charge now. |

The casuals definitely seem more forgiving with personalities like Nonis/Benning. |

Only brought the team its most successful period in franchise history, arguably the greatest team to never win a Stanley Cup and took the team to game 7.
Forgive me if I don't rail on a guy who saw a team's window and did whatever he could to make sure that team could get over the hump with the closed window period being an afterthought. I'd rather the goal be winning a Stanley Cup and doing everything you can than being Minnesota or St Louis where being a pretender and an also ran for decades is for some reason desirable. |

They're nice guys and I think that's kind of a problem for them when they're going up against sharks and wolves. |
