And Tarasenko, Kuzenetzov, Galchenyuk, Buchnevic. Next year Kovalchuk is back. Datsyuk might be one of the most underrated two-way centers in NHL history. But hey, no ruskies... - neem55

When there isn't oppression, it's just ethnocentrism.

I paid nine dollars for that sugary bit of paradise, that poop shan't be wasted on ethnocentric nobs. People have been watching Don Cherry so long I can't blame them. |

I wouldn’t be opposed to buying low on Galchenyuk. He’s better than what his numbers show. - Nucker101
i'd be down to trade for an established Ruskie.
Just not draft.
Of course i'm generalizing and exaggerating
I just feel we've been burnt before and Russians don't seem to pan out here (seem better suited for East coast living).
I often feel the same about drafting out of the Q. |

What an awful article Guarantee all the flack the team gets for not drafting local talent factored into the Virtanen mistake. Forget a players birthplace or passport. BPA. - CanuckDon
It was a brutal article. I had a hard time posting it as i was laughing so hard.
With the Viratanen pick I badly wanted what i thought was BPA at the time and filled a need, Haydn Fleury. But what the (frank) do i know, i havent got a high pick right yet. |

Yeah, I feel you on that. We’ve had a horrible record in the WHL too. Especially knowing that they wanted Kyle Beach in the Hodgson draft lol
OHL, Sweden and NCAA have been decent for us
Russia, WHL, QMJHL not so much |

Except of course the aforementioned Cody Hodgson. Unless were supposed to not point out the many bust weve had out to of the OHL in addition to every other junior league. |

Not sure how many players we actually drafted out of NCAA, Jason Herter maybe.
Although we have ended with some of our picks playing there and free agent signings from there.
4 of our current top 8 defensemen are products of NCAA |

I couldn't get past the title. No need to read a "Draft local players" take considering the last 20 years of "Make Montreal Great Again by drafting French players!" and "WHY DON'T THE LEAFS TAKE GOOD ONTARIO BOYS?"
TheHockeyWriters has some gems scattered around that website, but they're like the SPHL to NHL of SBNation and the Nation Network. |

There are a lot of good defenders from BC, I do wish we selected more dmen in the first 2 rounds regardless and WHL seems to produce good ones. |

Sounds like Tomas(we should have got a 2nd)Vanek, is having a bit of a rough go of it in Columbus.
3 games, zero points, just over 1 minutes per game and -1 per game(-3). |
