I don't think the sabres can afford to move that many assets - homiedclown
Im also not sure if the sabres can afford to sit around and wait (hope) certain picks, players, prospects pan out. There are obvious untouchables but that list is short in my opinion. Seeing pictures of the stands last night was sobering. Prob the first time where i saw actual evidence of the fans being completely fed up. I think a lot of even the most loyal fans are considering not renewing their seasons at this point. That wont sit well with Terry |

Especially being a former player. Thinking that anyone on ice level is trying to lose is insane.
The bottom line is that this team does not have the personnel and depth to even compete for a playoff spot. Our entire left side is made up of 4th liners. - TheSabresTaco
That's right ........... but does tanking happen ? Sure it does but that's on the GM not the coach.
Coaches get paid to win period and I can't imagine a coach willing to sacrifice not only his current job but future ones by losing on purpose. |

They really don't have much of a choice at this point
They will pick it up and hope to trade him for some sort of draft pick which will be easier if they pay out the option. |

Makes me wonder though. There HAS to be pressure to get better soon. Pegula is not going to sit around watching empty seats in the arena and season ticket renewals go down. But even more important is utilizing Eichel, ROR, Risto, etc. in the prime of their careers. - MCGUIZZY
That's what Tim Murray had to endure as well. Lots of pressure to get good NOW !
I'll never stop thinking how different this team would look this season with another year of Murray. It certainly couldn't have been worse. |

it doesn't make sense to pay tyrod 6 million, unless they have a trade in place
release him and take the savings |

the "slow" method is probably the quickest way to get there though. |

Yes it could’ve. 31st is better than 23rd or 25th, and I can’t envision any scenario where Murray made this a playoff roster last offseason |

This team needs a major shake up. I would welcome a big move as long as it improves our team. |

You get to a certain level of competence as a team and then you make your FA and trade moves to put you over the top.
Perhaps if Bogs stayed healthy, Moulson would have played like he was capable and ROR played like he did in Colorado things would be looking much different today and we'd be on the doorstop of the playoffs. Becasue none of that happened though .....we've taken a big step back. |

I could be wrong on this angle but:
The way the sabres treat the season ticket holders , the current product on the ice and the condition of the arena makes we wonder:
if they are trying to regain some of the seats for their own resale?
They have sold out for years, now when we are turning the corner finally. People will be bailing.
I'm being optimistic with " turning the corner"
Upper 300 level III season tickets are $30 each
On the sabres website with fees , they are $102 , same seat, same game.
Why would the sabres want other websites like stub hub makiing a profit on their product?
Anyone have a good reason why they neglect the season ticket holders and can't have clean bathrooms that work?
Maybe just neglect? Seams odd that they just "don't care"
This home schedule was the anti-resale year of all time.
No Christmas games
No Toronto weekend games
Ect.
I'm open for criticism. Just a thought

Totally agreed and don't get me wrong Drew Doughty is a Elite but who knows how long he's going to be at that level he's been playing in the NHL since age 18 his body is bound is going to get weaker |

I think the best path forward is to move out many of the players GMTM brought in:
They were brought in to play a style of hockey that became antiquated very quickly.
They are going to be too old by the time we will be anywhere close to winning a playoff series.
They have the stink of the tanks on them and probably don't have the heart anymore to turn it around.
They also probably hold the most value on the team (minus the untouchables)
At this point I would be very happy to ship them out for prospects who are more of a known asset or maybe a true leader who has actually won something to come in and hopefully teach everyone in the room how to win.

We'll never know ............
I don't think it's all that far fetched to say Murray could have squeezed another 10 wins out of this team which gets us into the playoffs. |

Probably a stretch. I think they are actually doing upgrades to the arena soon including bathrooms and such.
I just don't think season ticket holders will be rushing to re up on season tics when games are selling for $10-$15-$0 on stubhub, craigslist, etc.

It's a management team.
Don't be so sure they aren't working together in the tank.
Phil has some guarantees in place. $$$ pegula bucks
Some of the line up and goalie decisions leave this open to interpretation.
Mike blabcock was pretty tanky, of course with dignity.
This stealthtank is not embarrassing the nhl.
It has been fooled some fans. Tacos
Well played jbotts and tpegs |
