Scoring rates are WAY down. if i remember correctly almost 2 goals per game. It's a more defensive league now.
Edit. he has now tied the scoring record - CanuckDon
Oh okay, well damn that makes it even more impressive.
And sweet! |

With a goal and two assists already today - Elias Pettersson has tied Kent Nilsson for the most points by a U20 player in SHL history (54 points) |

There's a long way to go to get him to NA and then long way to go to get him in the Canuck lineup, but I can see this management group bringing him in way to early |

Boeser's turn to stay with him at the hospital - VanHockeyGuy
I'd hate to see a 170 lb kid get crushed in his first week. |

Has it gotten better? I love EP, but I assume there’s a higher % of Swede’s playing in North America and other leagues like the KHL nowadays than there was back then. They probably lose homegrown talent sooner and more often these days.
Would be interesting to see the numbers - Nucker101
My buddy that played all around Europe up till 2 years ago said the SHL is one of the hardest leagues to score in. It’s all very defensive minded now.

Yup, they will ruin him to avoid the ire of angry fans. |

Be nice to see something more like this in Utica for sure. - neem55
Ya. Meant for Utica. Chaput to mentor forwards, Weircioch for defense.
Bring it on.
Nucker, I know it is not happening, only wishful thinking on my behalf. |

Totally - let’s cover Elias in bubble wrap and get him to play in the BCHL UNTIL he is 25. Safety first, screw development. Monsters like Ehlers and Kane would hospitalize EP |

I’m agreeing with you. It would be suicide forEias to play against men. He would never be able to avoid hits from guys like Lucic and Reaves. Hopefully his parents won’t sign a waiver letting him come to North America |

It’s a wait and see for me on EP. Have to see how he adjusts to the smaller ice surface and faster pace of the NHL. If he’s agile and smart enough to avoid big hits while still being effective offensively, then he should be on the team. |

looked good on the small ice at the WJC I thought, but I agree it will take him some adjustment. Hard not to be pretty excited though. Utica next year would be very smart IMO, since he clearly has done all he can in the SHL. |

I think it’s going to come down to how he looks in camp and pre-season.
I don’t think it would surprise anyone if he pulls a Boeser next year, his skill set is amazing. |
