looked good on the small ice at the WJC I thought, but I agree it will take him some adjustment. Hard not to be pretty excited though. Utica next year would be very smart IMO, since he clearly has done all he can in the SHL. - neem55
Why would he play in the AHL after dominating the SEL? Because the ice is slightly smaller? I’m generally curious, what’s the logic? |

With a goal and two assists already today - Elias Pettersson has tied Kent Nilsson for the most points by a U20 player in SHL history (54 points) - VanHockeyGuy
Impressive to say the least. |

No he won’t. It will be tough to keep him off the Canucks when he is their best player in training camp and preseason lol |

We'll see.
Until then it's too early to pencil him as the 1st line centre and too early to say that he will be crushed by big, scary men.
In regards to coaching, I didn't like the hiring process but having said that, Dragon could coach this roster and they would still lick goat balls. |

The odds are low, but there’s a chance he looks overwhelmed during camp and pre-season. |

The only time Pettersson will see Utica is for maybe a condition stint after an injury...he is a full time Canuck. |

Also agree that this roster is too crappy for any coach to work with |

If Elias and Gaudette pan out next year and we get Dahlin, I could see us making the playoffs. |

Sure, anything is possible. Would be pretty surprising though. I think EP and Zadina start on a line together |

Pencilling in roster players from other leagues.
People in here still treat the AHL like it is cancer for a player. |

I don’t think anyone here thinks it’s cancer.
I think the discussion is more about how NHL-ready EP is rather than “will the AHL help or hurt him”
Some people thought Boeser should’ve started this season in the AHL before he ended up lighting it up in camp and then continued all season long. |

Why would playing games in the AHL hurt a players development? |

That’s my point. No one here is saying that, so I’m not sure where you’re getting that from lol
The discussion is entirely about how NHL-ready he is. |

Some players (like Boeser and Horvat) are beyond what the AHL can give them. Pettersson for all intensive purposes looks to be one of those players. There's always a chance he'll go to Utica at some point, But Pettersson looks to be on this roster next season. Probably along with Gaudette. This is a bad roster...and there should be room for both of them. |
