Oh, also, they should've cancelled the game yesterday. That weather was ridiculous. The landscape was littered with disappointed fans that the game went on. That's no way to run a business.

The amount of players that we have seen over the last few years that are a sack of poop just needs to end.

Raise the standards.

- flyer_nutter

This is how I feel. Raise the bar. I get why guys like Lehtera are here and why they play over some others. I do not have to like it though. They had 3-4 guys from last years roster that are not in the NHL this year. That's astounding!

There is no reason why an organization with the Flyers financial resources, and being a fairly attractive destination continues to play these kind of players one way or another.

In this league, every player matters.

Get a (frank)ing goalie for once. Hart needs to turn out.

TV rights are a bigger business, and NBCSN wasn't going to let them cancel one of their few actual rivalry games.

I was being sarcastic

People were bellyaching that the game wasn't cancelled.

Because the organization that had one 10 game losing streak this season and is working on another always makes the correct decision.

It's laughable for anyone to watch the continued struggles of Manning, MacDonald and Hagg and think Sanheim couldn't have helped this team in 2018. He was only the best possession player on the defense.

- Feanor

MacDonald is not struggling. He played very well last night and has played well overall all season.

I have never stated that the organization always makes the correct decision. The decision they made on Sanheim earlier in the season was however the correct decision in my opinion.

Why did you gloss over and ignore the statement I made of "He may be better now and if so, they should call him up" in the post you quoted.

Sanheim numbers were in a sheltered role. Let him play the minutes MacDonald plays and see what happens. It's all relative.

I understand your frustration but there is no way that adding 4 or 5 rookies to the lineup with a month to go in the season is going to make this team a contender. None.

Now if you want to argue that Hextall has a tendency to over cook his prospects, I won’t argue with you at all. Lindblom should have been up by mid December and if I were Hextall, I would have forced Hak to play Sanheim by trading Manning. His choice then would have been Sanheim or Alt. Other than that, I don’t see what else he could really do.

- BiggE

I said a month ago they better get some NHL game for SanHeim or Alt or they are stuck with Manning good or BAD

I believe he was right here, saying it was unsustainable due to a variety of puzzling personnel decisions that would eventually prove to be the team's undoing.
- Feanor

No he was absent when the Flyers were winning and only shows up now to claim moves are an indictment against the entire organization. None of the decisions the Flyers made on personnel are puzzling.

Just tired of watching the same guys cost the team games night in and night out. I am down with the way they are building the team. I think it is the right way.

Just think more could have been done to improve this team for this final stretch. They have three defensemen that should not be playing big minutes. One is a rookie so I am fine with him learning on the job. They have three forwards that are close to useless at this point. All three are vets that should not be getting regular shifts.

It is what it is right now. It sure is frustrating.

- mickel25

Before the recent losing streak the Flyers were on something like a 29-9-3 run and had one of the best records in the NHL over a considerable span of time. Now it guys costing the team games night in and night out. Some fans are real quick to get up on the bridge.

Weal along with the rest of the bottom 6 needs to chip in some offense. Weal is at 48% in Corsi and that's not enough. Weal is looking like a player who may not belong in the NHL.

The coach has basically two options. Play the Filppula line against Crosby or go head to head with the Couturier line. On a team that needs it's top lines to score getting them away from having to defend the Crosby line is sound strategy.

There is no guarantee that Sanheim can play at a level to significantly upgrade the Flyers defense at this point.

- MJL

Rather have Lethera at center than Flip, he is just lost to much of his game since last year.

It’s frustrating that this team does not seem to adapt their approach when facing superior talent. It’s Hak’s emotionless way or the highway basically.

Obviously it’d be foolish to expect the team to play like the Lavi era groups did against the Pens years ago, but why not try to emulate that to some degree last night? Oh yeah, we saw it when there was 0.0 left on the clock and a 5-2 score...

Not saying they should take unnecessary penalties but at least push the envelope a tad.

- IvanBrovorov

In the first half of the second period the Flyers controlled the play and there was plenty of emotion in the game from the players. They let the Pens back in the game and had some bad luck and a bad pinch by a rookie defenseman. Nothing to do with Hak's emotionless way. That's ridiculous.

Not really. It's simply a part of the process of building through the draft and using veterans as stop gap players.

I'd keep Filppula at center. His offensive game has deteriorated but he is still decent away from the puck.

I saw an interesting take on twitter earlier today, that if the flyers face pitt in the playoffs this year, the staff will have to consider moving G back to center to be able to match up better with their center depth. While I love G on the wing and how energized he looks this year, I tend to agree with this that they need to strongly consider that option.

Thoughts?

Flyers really need to take advantage of this Bruins team missing key players tonight. No Bergeron, Backes, McAvoy or Rask.

It's been snowing all night up here in Boston so hopefully they didn't have any delays flying in.

The last time a Philly team played a New England team it went well (Super Bowl 52) so lets hope the mojo keeps going!

- nikon2kool

Yeah. Lots of snow here for Boston. I'm used to more than this in Canada. I hope that they get the w tonight as I'll be there but so far march has been horrid for this team.

Of course your fine with it. They have options they choose not to use. I will never like having subpar players on the team regardless of where they are in the building process. I don't like these players when they are winning either. You are fine with it. So be it.
